Staten Island, NY - The Wagner College field hockey team captured a 2-1 win over Towson on Sunday afternoon.
Wagner was able to open the scoring 11:32 into the contest as freshman Pilar Lorenzini found graduate student Laura Van Hamburg across the net as Van Hamburg found the back of the net.
1:08 later, Towson was able to tie the game on a penalty stroke.
The penalty stroke was the lone Towson shot of the first quarter as Wagner was able to tally five in the first.
In the second quarter, senior Shaelyn Kobrynich gave the Green & White a 2-1 lead 3:09 into the frame. The goal from Kobrynich was her fourth in the last five contests as Wagner took a 2-1 lead into halftime.
In the third quarter, Wagner out shot Towson 6-1 as neither team was able to find the back of the net.
Wagner held Towson again to just one shot in the final 15 minutes to earn its second victory of the season.
Wagner will be back in action on Friday, October 20 at LIU.
