Syracuse, NY - The Wagner women's soccer team earned its second win of its conference play slate in a 1-0 victory over Le Moyne. The win moves the Seahawks into the fifth spot of the Northeast Conference standings with six games to play.
Senior Kayla Barbosa netted the game-winner in the 84th minute to break the scoreless affair. Junior Sam Hughes also recorded her fourth clean sheet of the season, all victories.Â
Wagner's offense had its foot on the gas all day, recording ten shots. Graduate student Madison Carr tallied two shots with both being on goal. Freshman Jess Maraia took a team-high four shots.
A first half red card stymied the momentum, but the late-game heroics from Barbosa gave the Seahawks another three points on the conference leaderboard.
There's a four-way tie for fifth place in the NEC standings and Wagner will look to separate itself from the pack when it takes on Saint Francis U at Hameline Field on Thursday, October 5 at 7:00 pm.
