Staten Island, NY – The Wagner College women's basketball team earned a 63-61 victory over Merrimack at the Spiro Sports Center on Saturday.
The win moves Wagner to 2-0 in Northeast Conference (NEC) play and the win is the teams fourth straight at home.

Zhaneia Thybulle led the charge in the first quarter for Wagner as she tallied nine points on 4-6 shooting as Wagner took a 20-15 lead into the second quarter.
In the second quarter, Merrimack shot 6-13 from the floor as they outscored Wagner 14-12. Despite being outscored in the quarter by the Warriors, the Seahawks took a 34-31 lead into halftime.
Zhaneia Thybulle carried the load for Wagner in the third, scoring nine points as Wagner expanded its lead to 10 points heading into the fourth quarter.

Alex Cowan tallied nine of Wagner's 12 points in the fourth quarter, all of her baskets were on four straight possessions.
With five seconds left, the Seahawks held a 63-61 lead and were able to get a stop on the final possession of the game to earn the victory.
Zhaneia Thybulle netted a career-high 22 points on 9-15 shooting, the Elmont, NY native tallied five rebounds, four blocks and three steals.
Alex Cowan tallied 15 points in the win while earning seven rebounds.
The Seahawks will have a quick turnaround as they will welcome LIU to the Spiro Sports Center on Sunday, January 8 at 3 pm.
