New Britain, CT – The Wagner College women's basketball team earned a 57-52 win at CCSU on Saturday afternoon to move to 6-0 in conference play.
Graduate student
Zhaneia Thybulle and senior
Drayah Heyward combined for 11 of Wagner's 21 first quarter points at the Seahawks held a 21-11 advantage.
Wagner shot 10-16 in the opening frame.
Fifth year senior
Kem Nwabudu scored 10 of the 14 second quarter points on 5-6 shooting as Wagner held a 35-28 advantage.
Of Wagner's 35 first half points, 32 were scored in the paint and tallied 12 points off of turnovers.
Nwabudu scored a team-high four third quarter points while bringing in two rebounds as the Seahawks held the Blue Devils to just eight points.
Redshirt junior
Alex Cowan took over the fourth quarter with seven of the nine Wagner points on 5-6 shooting from the free throw line down the stretch.
Kem Nwabudu tallied a team-high 16 points to go along with four rebounds.
Alex Cowan scored in double figures with 11 points while
Zhaneia Thybulle tallied 11 points and five assists.
The win brings Wagner to 6-0 in conference play, the best mark in program history.
Wagner will be back in action on Thursday, January 26 when they travel to St. Francis Brooklyn. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 pm.
