Baltimore, MD | Riverdale, NY - The Wagner women's soccer team embarks on their first road trip of the 2022 season, as the Seahawks will travel to UMBC on Thursday evening before concluding at Manhattan on Saturday evening. 

Last Time Out...
  • Wagner netted home the first goal of the contest in the 59th minute before Fordham got the equalizer a minute later and eventually tallied the game-winner in the 69' as the Seahawks dropped a 2-1 decision on Sunday afternoon. 
  • Madison Carr scored her second goal of the year and 11th of her Seahawk career in just her 20th game on Grymes Hill. 
    • For the Perryville, MD native, she stands alone in tenth-place in career points with 22 and goals scored with 11.
    • The next goal for Carr will move her into a tie for ninth with Briana Vassallo (2007-10), who finished her career with 12 goals.
  • Sophomore Sam Hughes made ten saves on 20 shots faced against the Rams on Sunday afternoon.
  • In 13 career games for Wagner, Hughes has made 70 saves while posting a career .787 save percentage. 

All-Time Series... 
  • Wagner is looking for their first win over UMBC as the Retrievers lead the head-to-head series, 7-0-1. 
  • On Saturday, the Seahawks and Jaspers will be facing one another for the 21st time, with Manhattan leading the all-time series 14-4-2. 

New Face, Former Place...
  • Thursday will be a homecoming of sorts for senior midfielder Juliana Rafaniello
  • The Old Bridge, NJ native is in her first season on Grymes Hill after spending the previous three with the Retrievers. 
  • A season ago, Rafaniello earned America East Conference All-Academic Team honors after placing fourth in the AE with six goals.
  • The six goals were the most by a Retriever since 2015. 

Scouting the Retrievers...
  • UMBC opened the 2022 season with a pair of road games, tying George Washington, 1-1, back on August 18 but dropped a 4-1 decision at Longwood three days later. 
  • Meghan Mckye and Delainey Varela-keen have scored the lone goals for UMBC this season while Lola Negrete has assisted on both of those goals. 
  • Morgan McGruder has started both games, recording a total of 12 saves, stopping a season-high seven against George Washington. 

Scouting the Jaspers...
  • Manhattan opens the 2022 campaign on Saturday evening against the Seahawks. 
  • The Jaspers finished 7-7-1 a season ago and 3-6-1 in MAAC contests. 
  • Julia Nichols returns as Manhattan's leading point scorer with nine(4 goals, 1 assists).
  • Kim Mains returns in goal after playing every minute last season to the tune of a 1.23 goals against average. She turned away 98 shots, which led the conference a season ago. 

Next Up... 
  • Wagner closes out the first month of the regular season on Wednesday, August 31 as the Seahawks play host to NJIT. 
  • Kickoff from Hameline Field is set for 7:00 p.m.
