Smithfield, RI – The Wagner College women's lacrosse team will head to the campus of Bryant University to take on the defending champions Mount St. Mary's in the Northeast Conference (NEC) semifinal on Thursday afternoon.

The Wagner women's lacrosse team defeated Bryant in the regular season finale from Hameline Field, 12-11, on Saturday, April 30.
The Bulldogs opened the game on a 5-1 run through the first 6:45 of the opening stanza, senior
Kasey Dorney tallied the lone goal for Wagner during the run. Sophomore
Kelsey Scheidel cut the Bryant lead to 5-2 before the team's shared one goal each the rest of the quarter. Senior
Ally Turner rounded out the three goal scorers for Wagner in the opening stanza.
Trailing 6-3 heading to the second stanza, junior
Megan Greco got on the Seahawks on the board in the second before the Bulldogs responded with a goal of their own. Both teams only found the back of the net once in the second quarter as the game entered the halftime intermission with Bryant holding a 7-4 advantage over Wagner.

Kasey Dorney and
Ally Turner each tallied their second goal of the contest while graduate student
Victoria Tucci found the back of the net with 46 seconds remaining in the stanza as the game entered the final 15 minutes with Bryant holding a 9-7 advantage.
The Bulldogs started the scoring in the final stanza before the Seahawks rattled off a 4-0 run from four different goal scorers.

Stefani Peluso each tallied goals, Peluso's goal knotted the game at 10.
Ally Turner completed her hat trick with 3:26 remaining in the contest to give Wagner an 11-10 lead, its first lead of the game. With 1:18 remaining, the Bulldogs tied the game before
Kasey Dorney secured her second game-winning goal in the last three games as she found the back of the net with 27 second remaining to propel Wagner to its third consecutive victory to close out the regular season.

Aileen Hannan caused four turnovers while tallying four draw controls. Senior goalkeeper
Lauren DiStefano stopped 10 out of 21 shots faced in the contest.
The loss gave the Bulldogs its lone loss in conference play as they entered the contest with a perfect 7-0 mark.
Aileen Hannan Goes Back-to-Back
Aileen Hannan of the Wagner College women's lacrosse team earned her second consecutive Northeast Conference (NEC) Defensive Player of the Week honor, the conference announced on Monday, April 2.
In the regular season finale against Bryant at Hameline Field on Saturday, April 30, the Rockville, MD native caused four turnovers while tallying four draw controls in the 12-11 Wagner victory over the co-regular season champions. Hannan played a pivotal role in an impressive defensive effort that saw Wagner hold the league's top-scoring team to 11 goals, which is more than five below its season average of 16.20 goals per game.
Along with being named Defensive Player of the Week, Hannan was named a Prime Performer along with classmates
Kasey Dorney and
Ally Turner.
Kasey Dorney was clutch yet again for the Seahawks as she tallied her second game-winning goal in the last three contests for Wagner as she broke an 11-11 tie with 27 seconds remaining from a free-position opportunity. The Deer Park, NY native finished the game with four goals and three ground balls.
Ally Turner had a hand in four of Wagner's 12 goals in the regular season finale against Bryant. The Oakland, ME native tallied a hat trick and added an assist to propel the Seahawks in handing Bryant its lone loss in NEC play this season.
Aileen Hannan Earns Defensive Player As Seven Seahawks Earn All-Conference Honors
Aileen Hannan was named NEC Defensive Player of the Year while seven members of the Wagner women's lacrosse team earned All-Conference honors, the conference announced on Wednesday, May 4.
Along with being named Defensive Player of the Year, Hannan earned First Team All-NEC honors with classmate
Kasey Dorney. Graduate student's
Victoria Tucci and
Madeline Seims earned Second Team honors with
Lauren DiStefano and junior
Casey Haas. Freshman
Angelina Skowronski was named to the All-Rookie Team.
Aileen Hannan earns First Team honors for the second consecutive season and earns an individual All-Conference honor for the first time during her career on Grymes Hill. This season, Hannan earned back-to-back NEC Defensive Player of the Week honors to close out the regular season. Hannan anchored a Wagner defense that lead the conference with 319 ground balls and 18.76 ground balls per contest. The Seahawks defense also lead the conference with 169 caused turnovers and 9.94 caused turnovers per game. The Rockville, MD native finished second in the conference with 2.94 ground balls per game while finishing first with 50 total ground balls. Hannan also lead the conference with 39 caused turnovers and 2.29 per game.
The senior tallied her 100th career ground ball against Sacred Heart on April 20.
Kasey Dorney joins Hannan on the First Team for the second consecutive season after leading the conference with four game winning goals. The senior tallied two game winning goals in the final three games of the season to secure a playoff spot for the Seahawks. The Deer Park, NY native finished second in the NEC with 27 caused turnovers and 1.59 per contest while earning NEC Player of the Week on March 7. Dorney lead the Seahawks with 33 goals, 40 points, and 80 shots. She also tallied her 100th career point on April 13 against Rutgers.
Victoria Tucci earned her first NEC All-Conference honor after starting all 17 games for Wagner this season. Against LIU on March 30, Tucci notched a career-high five goals and earned her 100th career point on April 2 against Saint Francis University. The North Brunswick, NJ native finished second on the Seahawks with 24 goals and lead the team with 12 assists.
After earning a First Team honor last season, junior
Casey Haas earns Second Team honors this time around. The Ridgewood, NJ native finished fourth with 24 ground balls and third in caused turnovers for Wagner. The junior started in all 16 of her appearances.
Goalkeeper
Lauren DiStefano earned her 300th career save on March 30 against LIU while starting in 16 out of 17 contests in between the pipes for Wagner. The West Islip, NY native earned .499 save percentage while earning three NEC Defensive Player of the Week honors. DiStefano's save percentage was third best in the conference.
Madeline Seims earns All-Conference recognition for the third time in her career as she earned First Team honors in 2019 and 2021. The Westbury, NY native tallied her 150th career point on March 30 against LIU. Seims wraps up her Wagner career third all-time in shots, fourth all-time in points and eight all-time in goals in Wagner women's lacrosse history.
In her first season on Grymes Hill,
Angelina Skowronski was placed on the All-Rookie team after starting 14 out of her 16 appearances. Her 39 draw controls was second-best on the Seahawks while her 12 caused turnovers was fourth-best and her 21 ground balls was fifth-best.
About The Tournament
The same four teams who competed in the 2021 NEC Tournament will compete in the 2022 installment of the event. Bryant and Mount St. Mary's shared the regular season title as Bryant holds the tiebreaker over the Mount. Wagner checks in as the #3 seed as LIU rounds out the four teams in the quest for the NEC crown.
Wagner enters its eighth consecutive conference tournament with a chance to return to the conference championship for an conference-best eighth consecutive season.
About Mount St. Mary's
The defending NEC champions defeated Wagner 15-4 on Wednesday, April 6 in Emmitsburg. The Mountaineers claimed seven All-Conference honorees as Zoe Hurlburt was named NEC Midfielder of the Year and earned First Team honors along with four of her teammates. Five First Team members was a conference high.
