Staten Island, NY – The Wagner College softball team will play host to Central Connecticut this weekend, with a doubleheader on Saturday at 1:00 pm and a single game on Sunday at noon.
All games will stream live on NECFrontRow.
The Seahawks earned sweeps over Saint Peter's and Merrimack last week in earning their first conference victories of the season.
In the process, sophomore
Scarlett Lloyd was named the Northeast Conference (NEC) Pitcher of the Week. Lloyd earned the first NEC weekly award of her collegiate career and first award for a Seahawk this season.
The sophomore was a big part of Wagner's 4-0 week, earning two complete game victories without allowing an earned run while striking out nine batters and only allowing six hits. On Tuesday, Lloyd struck out four while only giving up three hits in Wagner's walk-off 3-2 victory over Saint Peter's. Lloyd once again dominated on Saturday against Merrimack, striking out five in the Seahawks' 3-1 victory over the Warriors.
On the season, Lloyd has earned four victories and leads Wagner with 70 strikeouts this year. The sophomore also leads Wagner with 26 hits offensively, with sophomore
Keaghan Ward sitting in second with 25 hits.
Lloyd, Ward, and freshman
Kate Wolf lead the Seahawks with double digit RBIs on the season, as Wolf paces Wagner with 13 RBIs this year.
Apart from Lloyd, senior
Nora Conway earned NEC Prime Performer honors after hitting .538 with a home run, seven hits, and three RBIs last week.
Defensively, the Seahawks continue to lead the NEC while sitting at 55th in the country with a .969 fielding percentage.
Following this weekend's series, Wagner will host Merrimack on Wednesday, April 13, for a makeup game at noon.
