Staten Island, NY – The Wagner College softball team will travel to Rider for a non-conference doubleheader on Tuesday, with first pitch set for 2:30 pm.
Wagner is coming off a 2-2 week against Saint Peter's and Manhattan and will start Northeast Conference (NEC) play on Saturday at Mount St. Mary's.
Tuesday's doubleheader was originally scheduled for Wednesday, but moved up due to the weather forecast.
Wagner is led by sophomore
Scarlett Lloyd, who leads the team offensively with a .400 average and 10 RBI while also leading the Seahawks with 39 strikeouts in the pitching circle. Against Saint Peter's, Lloyd turned in a dominant performance, only allowing two hits in a complete game shutout while striking out eight batters to earn the victory.
The two teams last met in 2019, when Wagner earned a doubleheader sweep, picking up 12-5 and 8-3 wins. Overall, the Seahawks have won their last eight games against Rider.
Wagner has five players who have double digit hits on the season in Lloyd, sophomore
Keaghan Ward, freshman
Kate Wolf, junior
Bianca Worthy, and senior
Penelope Russ. Lloyd and Ward lead Wagner with 10 RBIs apiece.
The Broncs enter the series with a 9-9 record, most recently going 1-3 at the Penn State Softball Invitational.
Next up, Wagner will travel to Mount St. Mary's for a three-game series on Saturday and Sunday.
