Kasey Dorney continued the Wagner run to open the second quarter as she tallied a goal before graduate student
Victoria Tucci tallied her lone goal of the afternoon as Wagner held a 6-1 lead early in the second stanza. The first six goals for Wagner were scored by six different goal scorers. Dorney and Seims each their second goal of the contest in the second quarter as reigning Defensive Player of the Week
Lauren DiStefano stopped two free-position attempts from the Jaspers to preserve Wagner's lead in the second quarter as the Green & White took an 8-3 lead into the intermission.
The hosts opened the second half on a 2-0 run before
Kasey Dorney tallied her first hat trick of the season on a free-position attempt to extend the Wagner lead to 9-5. Following the Dorney goal,
Katie Siverson found the back of the net for the second time on the day to give Wagner a 10-5 lead. The Jaspers closed the third quarter on a 4-0 run to bring the score to 10-9 heading into the final stanza.
Manhattan put a stamp on the contest in the fourth quarter when they extended the run to 8-0 and took a 13-10 lead. Sophomore
Kelsey Scheidel tallied her first goal of the season to bring the deficit to 13-11 but the hosts added one more goal in the quarter to preserve a 14-11 victory.

DiStefano And Siverson Receive NEC Honors
After strong performances against Fairfield on Saturday,
Lauren DiStefano and
Katie Siverson were tabbed with Northeast Conference (NEC) Player of the Week honors.
DiStefano claimed her second career Defensive Player of the Week honor after claiming the same recognition on March 15, 2021. The senior captain stopped 17 shots against Fairfield as she was dominant through the first three quarters, holding Fairfield to eight goals while making 14 stops. She caused one turnover and collected two ground balls.
Siverson garners her second NEC honor in as many weeks as she was tabbed a Prime Performer last week after her two-goal performance against Drexel in her first career game on Grymes Hill. The Morristown, NJ native tallied two goals and claimed a game-high six draw controls in Wagner's contest against Fairfield. Siverson's second goals of the afternoon came with 58 seconds remaining in the third quarter to put the Seahawks on top, 9-8.
Along with being named Defensive Player of the Week, DiStefano was named Prime Performer along with graduate student
Victoria Tucci who scored twice on Saturday.
Historic Run
Wagner has reached the NEC title game in every season since 2014 while claiming the crown in 2016, 2018, and 2019. During the Seahawks run to seven consecutive championship games, the Green & White finished second in the regular season in 2021, 2019, 2018, 2016, 2015, and 2014. Wagner entered the 2017 NEC Tournament as the #3 seed. In 2014, the Green & White entered the season picked seventh in the Preseason Poll and finished second in the regular season while earning a trip to the NEC Championship game.
Last Time Against Vermont
Wagner and Vermont have squared off just once in program history and the Seahawks came away victorious with an 11-10 victory at Hameline Field.

About Vermont
The Catamounts suffered their first loss of the season on Wednesday, February 23 against UMass, 17-11. Before the loss, Vermont defeated Colgate, 17-8, and Boston University, 16-10.
Vermont has scored 50 goals through the first three games of the season as junior Ava Vasile leads the team with 10 goals, 14 points, and 21 shots. The Milford, MA native is also tied for the team lead with four assists. The Catamounts were picked fourth in the America East Preseason Poll.

Wagner will continue its four-game road trip with a non-conference tilt against Lehigh on Saturday, March 5 before closing out the road trip with a contest at Hofstra on Tuesday, March 8.
