Staten Island, NY – The Wagner College softball team gears up for its second weekend of competition, as the Seahawks will play in the Hampton Invitational from Friday to Sunday.
On Friday, Wagner will take on Norfolk State, followed by two games apiece against Morgan State and Hampton on Saturday and Sunday.
Offensively, Wagner is lead by senior
Penelope Russ' six hits in nine at bats on the season, while sophomore
Scarlett Lloyd and freshman
Kate Wolf provided the Seahawks' first two home runs of the season at the ECU Pirate Clash last weekend.
Overall, nine players recorded at least one hit, as the Green and White combined for 26 hits during the first five games of the season.
In the pitching circle, senior
Eve Harvey leads Wagner with 17 innings pitched, with Lloyd and senior
Kayla Hooks also seeing action during the first weekend of competition.
Hampton enters the weekend with a 7-1 record, while Morgan State comes into the weekend with an 0-4 mark on the year. Norfolk State enters its second week of play with a 6-3 record.
Following this weekend's competition, the Seahawks will travel to the West Coast, where Wagner will compete at UC Santa Barbara between March 4-6.
