Field Hockey

This Week In Wagner Athletics; Six Sports In Action As Football Returns Home

Staten Island, NY- Here is a look at the Wagner Athletics events for this week.
 
Women's Soccer

- The Seahawks will play the final road game of the 2022 regular season on Thursday, October 20 when they take on Sacred Heart at 7:00 P.M.
- On Sunday, October 16, Wagner fell to Merrimack 3-0.
- On Thursday, October 13, the Seahawks earned its second NEC win of the season with a 3-1 triumph over conference newcomer Stonehill.
 

- Fifth-year senior Gabby Cipriano led the Wagner attack with one goal and one assist.
 
Field Hockey

- Wagner will travel to take on defending NEC champion Fairfield on Friday, October 21 at 4:00 P.M. before traveling to Lawrenceville, NJ to take on Rider at 12:00 P.M.
- The Seahawks earned a 3-2 overtime victory over La Salle on Sunday, October 16 as graduate student Julia Cruces Pastorino tallied the game-winning goal 42 seconds into overtime.
- Wagner earned its fourth NEC win of the season on Friday, October 14 with a 6-1 victory over Sacred Heart.
- The Seahawks are the lone unbeaten team in NEC play.
 
Football

-The Seahawks take on LIU at Hameline Field on Friday night at 7:00 pm in a contest televised on ESPN3 and NECFrontRow. 
-Four more conference games will round out the 2022 schedule, with a home contest against Sacred Heart (November 12) and road games at Central Connecticut (October 29), Stonehill (November 5), and Duquesne (November 19).

Women's Tennis 

- Wagner will travel to Monmouth to take on the Hawks on Thursday, October 21.
 

- This past weekend the Seahawks competed in the Hofstra Invitational where Sophomore Paula Uy collected her first win of the year on Sunday with a 6-4, 6-2 win over Brooklyn Samuels of Hofstra.

Men's Water Polo

- The Seahawks will welcome Navy to the Spiro Sports Center on Saturday, October 22 at 10:00 A.M. before heading to Brooklyn to take on LIU at 3:00 P.M.
- Wagner earned three wins in four games this past weekend, including victories over Johns Hopkins and LIU at the Spiro Sports Center.
- With five games left in the regular season, the Seahawks have a 12-11 overall record and a 7-5 MAWPC record.
 
Women's Fencing

- The Seahawks will continue its fall season on Sunday, October 23 at the Shark Tank Invitational at LIU.
- In its first meet of the season at the Neil Lazar ROC, sophomore Katerina Cervenkova placed 17th in the épee competition.
- Sophomore Alex Cole placed 34th in the foil competition while freshman Fanny Straub placed 40th in her first collegiate event in the sabre competition.
