Staten Island, NY– The Wagner College women's lacrosse team finally returns to the field Saturday against the Sacred Heart Pioneers at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday at Hameline Field in Northeast Conference (NEC) action.
The Seahawks come into Saturday a half-game ahead of Long Island University (LIU) for second in the NEC standings and 1.5 games back of Mount. St. Mary's for the top spot in the conference.
Wagner-Sacred Heart History
The all-time head-to-head is tied at 10 wins apiece, but Wagner's come out on top in the last seven contests, the last four all being at least five-goal wins, including an 18-12 triumph back on March 27.
Last Time Out For Wagner
The Seahawks have not played since that six-goal win over the Pioneers two Saturdays ago.
Madeline Seims,
Stefani Peluso, and
Erin Kerstetter all finished with five points: Seims scored four goals, Kerstetter handed out four assists, and Peluso scored twice, dishing out three assists.
Megan Greco matched Seims with a game-high four goals and
Victoria Tucci finished with a hat trick.
Kasey Dorney stuffed the stat sheet with two goals, an assist, 11 draw controls and three caused turnovers in the win.
Grace Reinold had a hat trick, adding an assist for the Pioneers. Kerry Metzler and Lydia Werlau each finished with two goals and an assist.
About Sacred Heart
The Pioneers enter Saturday 3-6 on the season, 3-5 in NEC play.
Metzler leads the team with 31 points, including eight in a 12-11 win over Bryant on Wednesday. Reinold is second on the team with 26 points, and Werlau leads the team with 21 goals, while ranking third in points, with 25.
Kirsten Barnes and Emma Kittredge have each scored 10 or more goals this season as well for the Pioneers.
Bella Beaton has started al eight goals in net this year, playing more than 452 out of a possible 480 minutes, averaging more than nine saves per game, including four games with 11 or more.
