Brookville, NY –  The Wagner field hockey team resumes Northeast Conference (NEC) on Friday afternoon as the Seahawks head to Long Island to square off against the LIU Sharks. 


Last Time Out for Wagner…

  • Wagner saw its season-high four-game win streak snapped in non-conference action by the University of Vermont Catamounts on Sunday afternoon, as the Seahawks fell 2-1 at the Wagner College Field Hockey Complex. 
  • Junior Sara Nelson scored the lone for the home team when she deflected a Liselotte Koop shot off of a corner. 
  • For Nelson, it was her second time finding the back of the net this season while Koop continues to add to her season toals, picking up her team-leading eighth assist.
  • Senior Julia Cruces Pastorino led the Green & White with five shot attempts. 
  • Senior netminder Daisy Ruhle was credited with seven saves on the afternoon. 


Cruces Pastorino and Koop Collect NEC Weekly Honors…
  • Following the Seahawks' strong performance in the 8-1 victory on the road at Saint Francis University last Friday, the Northeast Conference (NEC) announced on Monday afternoon that Koop and Cruces Pastorino were awarded two of the league's weekly awards.
  • Cruces Pastorino earned NEC Offensive Player of the Week after tallying three goals and two assists. 
  • The Buenos Aires, Argentina native currently ranks second in the circuit in assists (5) and assists per game (0.50) while ranking among the top-five in goals (5), shots (35), and points (17). 
  • Koop earned NEC Rookie of the Week for the second straight week after tallying two goals and five points against the Red Flash. 
  • The first-year Seahawk leads the conference in assists (8), assists per game (0.80) and ranks among the top-five in points (18), points per game (1.80) and goals (5). 

About LIU…
  • The Sharks fell to 2-7 on the season after falling to Fairfield University on Friday afternoon in their first NEC contest of the season.
  • LIU, currently looking to snap a three-game losing streak, will look for their first win since defeating Lehigh on September 19, 1-0 in OT.
  • Sammy Bell is the team's leader in goals (4), points (8), shots (23), and shots on goal (11).
  • Felicia King has handed out a team-best two assists and while collecting four points, good for second behind Bell.
  • Rachel Vellis has started in every game for the Sharks in goal. 
  • She has made 41 saves on 60 shots faced.

  • The Seahawks will close out the two-game road trip on Sunday afternoon with a visit to Smithfield, RI as Wagner will take on the Bryant University Bulldogs at 1:00 p.m.
