Staten Island, NY – The Wagner College men's basketball team will play host to Robert Morris on Thursday evening, with tip-off set for 7:00 pm at the Spiro Sports Center.
DJT's Breakout Game
Freshman
Darion Jordan-Thomas scored a career-high 16 points and grabbed nine rebounds in Wagner's loss against FDU. For Jordan-Thomas, it marked the first double-digit performance of his young career. The first-year Seahawk showed elite efficiency, converting six of seven field goal attempts against the Knights.
Break From The Action
Thursday night's contest will mark the first game in seven days for the Seahawks. Getting a break from the busy Northeast Conference schedule will allow the Seahawks to get healthier, as only nine players were available against Fairleigh Dickinson last week.
Floor General
Junior point guard
Chase Freeman continues to guide the Seahawk offense. Freeman leads the Northeast Conference with an assist/turnover ratio of 2.5 and is third in the league at 35.71 minutes per game.
Cobb Leads The Way
Graduate student
Curtis Cobb III continues to pace the Seahawks in scoring at 17.3 points per game, which is good for fourth in the NEC. Cobb has five 20-point performances this season and has scored in double figures in seven straight contests.
Hall of Fame
Wagner College men's basketball great Jermaine Hall '03 has been named to the Northeast Conference (NEC) Hall of Fame, the league announced on Thursday. Hall, who
was inducted into the Wagner Athletics Hall of Fame in 2018, is one of two former student-athletes and one coach to make up the 2019-20 NEC Hall of Fame induction class. Hall, who is in his 17th season playing professionally in Israel, produced one of the most prolific careers in the history of the Wagner men's basketball program from 1999 to 2003. The 2000 NEC Rookie of the Year is Wagner's second all-time leading scorer with 2,278 points, which also ranks fourth on the NEC all-time scoring list.
The Series
The Seahawks and the Colonials are meeting for the 78th time with Robert Morris holding a 47-30 edge in the head-to-head series, which includes a victory over the Seahawks earlier this season.
Scouting The Colonials
Robert Morris enters Thursday night's matchup with a 12-11 overall record and 8-2 conference mark, which is good for second place overall in the NEC. The Colonials have won three straight games over CCSU, Bryant, and St. Francis Brooklyn.
Supporting Autism Speaks
As part of last week's game, head coach
Bashir Mason and his staff wore blue pins to support autism speaks. The annual campaign enlists coaches, teams, schools, broadcasters and fans to raise awareness and funds for Autism Speaks, which is dedicated to promoting solutions, across the spectrum and throughout the life span, for the needs of people with autism and their families.
Next Up For Wagner
The Seahawks will conclude their three-game homestand on Saturday with a matchup against Saint Francis U at 4:00 pm at the Spiro Sports Center.
