Staten Island, NY – The Wagner College swimming and diving team will have its last test before the Northeast Conference (NEC) Championships, as the Seahawks take on LIU on Saturday at 1 pm at the Spiro Sports Center.
Following Saturday's meet, the Seahawks will honor their senior class, consisting of
Kelli Boston,
Jenna D'Allegro,
Makenna Depuydt,
Lauren Emerson,
Emily Moore,
Katie Mulcahy, and graduate student
Dorian McMenemy.
Depuydt was named the NEC's Swimmer of the Week after Wagner's most recent meets against Rhode Island and NYU. Apart from Depuydt, freshman
Raquel Reyes was named the NEC Rookie of the Week for her performances throughout the weekend, while sophomore
Ellie Eastwood was named an NECPrimePerformer.
Freshman
Frederikke Mertins is first in the NEC with a 2:18.99 in the 200 Breast and is second in the conference in the 100 IM (58.92). Freshman
Maile Mora swam the fastest time in the 400 IM across the NEC this season in 4:27.09.
McMenemy currently has the second-fastest time in the 50 Free in 23.78, while owning the third fastest time in the 50 Fly (25.82).
LIU has won both of its meets during the 2020 calendar year over Monmouth and Saint Peter's. The Sharks enter the weekend with an even 6-6 dual meet record.
This year's NEC Championship meet will take place from February 19-22 in East Meadow, NY.
