New Britain, CT  –  Following back-to-back home victories over local Northeast Conference (NEC) rivals, St. Francis Brooklyn and LIU, the Wagner College women's basketball team embarks on a two-game road trip, beginning on Saturday afternoon as the Seahawks get set to tangle with the Central Connecticut State University Blue Devils from Detrick Gymnasium. 


Wagner All-Time vs. Central Connecticut: 
  • The Seahawks trail in the head-to-head, 26-17.
  • Wagner is looking for its third straight victory against the Blue Devils, after sweeping the season series a season ago. 
  • The Seahawks are just 2-3 in its last five matchups at Detrick Gymnasium. 
  • Redshirt junior guard Morgan Lenahan is averaging double-figures against the Blue Devils, with Lenahan, in her career, netting 14.0 ppg while grabbing 3.5 rpg, dishing out 5.0 apg in 33.0 mpg. She has also swiped 3.0 steals in those two contests against CCSU.
  • Senior Jordan Hobson, in just two games against CCSU, is pouring in 11.5 ppg, 4.5 rpg, and shooting 50.0 percent from the floor and 44.4 percent from beyond-the-arc.
  • Junior guard/forward Khaleah Edwards is averaging 9.0 ppg, 2.3 rpg, while shooting 48.0 percent from the field. 
 
Last Time Out For Wagner: 
  • Down 61-60 a minute into the overtime session, Wagner sophomore forward Emilija Krista Grava hit what turned out to be the go-ahead jumper with 35 seconds left in the extra frame just before junior guard Alayshia Dailey made one-of-two from the line as the Seahawks edged out the LIU Sharks, 63-61, on Monday afternoon from the Spiro Sports Center. 
  • Krista Grava paced the Seahawks with 17 points on 7-for-15 shooting from the field while pulling down a team-best seven rebounds in 37 minutes of action. Senior forward Jordan Hobson joined Krista Grava in double-figures, chipping in 12 points on 5-for-9 from the floor in 20 minutes of play. 
  • The Sharks also had two players score in double-figures, led by Ryan Weise, who netted a team-high 16 points, highlighted by four three-pointers. Brandy Thomas poured in 15 points to go along with eight rebounds in 36 minutes while Kiara Bell corralled a game-high 12 rebounds and scored seven points. 
 
 
A Win Over Central Connecticut Would:
  • be Wagner's third straight win and first on the road this season. 
  • be the Green & White's third consecutive victory over Central Connecticut.
  • be the Seahawks 18th all-time win against the Blue Devils. 


About The Central Connecticut State University Blue Devils:
  • Central Connecticut, picked to finish 10th in the Northeast Conference (NEC) Preseason Coaches' Poll, will be looking to snap a seven-game losing streak, after falling 66-47 on the road at Fairleigh Dickinson on Martin Luther King Day.
  • Ashley Berube, the team's leading scorer, has reached double-figures in nine straight games, after netting 23 points on 8 of 13 shooting from the floor while connecting on 6 of 6 from the free-throw line in 30 minutes of play. 
  • On the year, Berube, has tallied 13.9 ppg, which ranks eighth in the conference in scoring while ranking seventh in the league in rebounding at 7.1 caroms a contest. 
  • She is also second in the NEC in field-goal percentage, shooting the ball at a 51.8 percent clip and also second in the conference in blocks, rejecting the ball 36 times while averaging 2.0 blocks a game. 
  • Ashley Forker, who leads the Blue Devils at 32.6 minutes a contest, has dished out 66 assists thus far, which is third in the conference at 3.7 apg. 
  • Collectively, the Blue Devils are averaging 57.3 points per game while shooting 36.2 percent from the floor and just 27.4 percent from beyond-the-arc.
  • CCSU ranks third in the league in free-throw shooting, hitting on 73.9 percent from the line. 


Last Time Against CCSU:
  • Redshirt sophomore Taylah Simmons tied her career-high with 19 points while recording her third double-double of the season as the Wagner College women's basketball team earned its first Northeast Conference (NEC) win of the season, defeating Central Connecticut, 75-63, back on January 7, 2019 at Detrick Gymnasium.
  • Simmons netted 14 of her game-best 19 points in the first half and finished with a season-high 11 caroms in her 36 minutes of action. The Melbourne, Australia native shot 7-of-15 from the field while dishing out four assists and notching two steals in the victory. For Simmons, tonight's performance marked her fifth career double-double and second in a three-game span. 
  • Additionally, three other Seahawks scored in double digits as sophomore guard Alayshia Dailey recorded a career-high 16 points on 4-of-6 shooting while hitting on 8-of-11 from the free throw in 35 minutes of action. Dailey also grabbed a career-best seven rebounds. 
  • Junior Jordan Hobson chipped in 12 points on 5-of-7 marksmanship in 12 minutes off the bench.

Home Sweet Home:
  • Wagner has posted a 6-2 record at the Spiro Sports Center this season and 2-1 in conference games at home. 
  • The Seahawks are averaging 68.2 ppg at home this season, shooting the ball at a 40.3 percent clip from the field while hitting on 35.8 percent from the outside. 
  • The Green & White are outscoring their opponents 546-537 at home this year. 
  • The Green & White holds 295-290 edge on the boards, while outmuscling their opponents, 108-91, on the offensive glass.
  • Sophomore Emilija Krista Grava and junior Khaleah Edwards have averaged double-figures, led by Krista Grava, who is pouring in 18.9 ppg in seven home games while Edwards is next at 13.8 a contest.
  • Krista Grava currently leads the team on the boards, pulling down 7.1 rpg at the Spiro Sports Center while Edwards is next at 6.4 rpg. 
  • Edwards has made 21 threes at home this season, converting at 47.7 percent clip.  
  • Freshman Alex Cowan has netted 9.3 ppg while dishing out 4.3 apg over the eight Wagner home games. 

 
Road Bump: 
  • The Green & White will look to snap an 11-game losing streak away from the Spiro Sports Center when they hit the road this weekend at Central Connecticut and Bryant. 
  • The Seahawks are 0-9 this season away from Grymes Hill. 
  • The last time the Seahawks won on the road came on February 23, 2019, at Fairleigh Dickinson, when the Green & White defeated the Knights, 60-44, in Teaneck, NJ. 
  • Freshman guard Alex Cowan and sophomore forward Emilija Krista Grava are the lone Seahawks scoring in double-figures away from the Spiro Sports Center, with Cowan leading the way at 12.3 ppg in eight  games while Krista Grava has netted 10.3 ppg. 
  • The Green & White have scored 56.1 ppg away from Staten Island, shooting just 35.4 percent from the field and under 30.0 percent from beyond-the-arc. 

Raining Threes:
  • On January 18 at home against the St. Francis Brooklyn Terriers, the Seahawks connected early and often from three-point range. 
  • In the first quarter, Wagner hit on 8 of 14 from beyond-the-arc and in the second quarter, connected on 4 of 8 from the outside. 
  • The program record for made threes is 13, accomplished on two different occasions, the last coming against Quinnipiac back on December 4, 2010. 
  • Dating back to 2016, when the women's game went to quarters instead of halves, the eight three-pointers in the first quarter are the most in program-history. 


Over The Last Five Games:
  • Wagner is 2-3 in its last five games while averaging 59.8 ppg while shooting 36.5 percent from the field and 33.6 percent from three-point range. 
  • Sophomore Emilija Krista Grava and junior Khaleah Edwards are both in double-figures over the last five games, led by Krista Grava, who is scoring 11.0 ppg, grabbing 6.0 rpg while converting on 41.7 percent from the floor in 26.6 minutes. Edwards, who is pouring in 10.4 ppg, has tied Krista Grava with eight steals, while logging 35.8 mpg. 
  • Senior Jordan Hobson has made 11 three-pointers over the last five games.
  • Collectively, the Seahawks have forced 23.4 turnovers while netting 20.6 points off those mishaps.

Seahawk Saturdays 
  • Wagner is 3-4 in seven Saturday contests this season, after defeating St. Francis Brooklyn, 74-66, on January 18. 
  • Three Seahawks are scoring in double-figures, led by freshman Alex Cowan, who is averaging 11.6 ppg, 4.6 rpg, 3.4 apg in 32.0 mpg. The Bowie, MD native is converting on 36.5 percent from the floor and leading the way with 15 made three-pointers, shooting at 50.0 percent clip. 
  • Junior Khaleah Edwards is next at 11.3 ppg, while pulling down 5.0 rpg and shooting 39.1 percent from the field and 31.4 percent from the outside. 
  • Sophomore Emilija Krista Grava rounds out the trio, netting 11.0 ppg while grabbing a team-high 5.5 rpg in just 26.0 minutes of action. 
  • As a whole, Wagner is tallying 62.0 ppg on Saturday, while hitting on 36.9 percent of its shots from the field while converting at a 76.0 percent clip at the charity stripe. 
  • The Seahawks have forced 20.7 turnovers on Saturdays and have averaged 15.0 apg during these games.

  • In games decided by 10 points or less, Wagner is 5-2 this season.
  • Of the 43 turnovers that Wagner has forced in league-play, the Seahawks have scored 126 points while their opponents, who have forced 49 mishaps, have netted 94 points.
