Staten Island, NY – The Wagner College men's basketball team will host LIU in a 4 pm tip-off on Martin Luther King Day at the Spiro Sports Center.
Celebrating Martin Luther King Day
As part of the Northeast Conference's (NEC) #AllinBallOut campaign, the Seahawks will be playing a rare Monday matchup in celebration of Martin Luther King Day. The focus of the day will be on celebrating diversity, equality and unity on both our campuses and throughout our local communities.
Seahawks vs. Sharks
Wagner and LIU will be renewing one of the oldest rivalries in the Northeast Conference (NEC). Last season, Wagner swept the series against LIU, including a 71-59 victory at the Spiro Sports Center in the rematch of the 2018 NEC Championship game. Overall, this will be the 110th meeting between the two schools, with LIU holding a 61-48 advantage. All-time, Wagner is 25-29 against the Blackbirds on Staten Island. Head coach

The Seahawks' offense features two of the league's top 12 scorers in graduate student
Curtis Cobb III and junior
Alex Morales. Coming into the week Cobb was third in the Northeast Conference (NEC) with 17.2 points per game, while Morales checked in 11
th in the league with 14.1 points per contest. Wagner is one of four schools to have two top-12 scorers, joining Sacred Heart, Saint Francis U, and LIU.

Chase Freeman continues to lead the Seahawks at point guard this season. Coming into the week, the third-year Seahawk was second in the league with 35.67 minutes per game and third in the NEC in assist-turnover ratio (2.15).
Scouting The Sharks
NEC Preseason favorite LIU dropped its conference opener against Mount St. Mary's, but has won four straight in league play since then to even its overall record to 9-9. On Saturday, the Sharks earned a 74-60 road victory over Bryant.

Coaches vs. Cancer Suits And Sneakers Week is a nationwide event that unites basketball coaches across the country for a common cause – saving lives from cancer. Coaches and their staff across the nation wear sneakers with their suits during games to raise awareness, helping to save lives by raising funds and encouraging people to educate themselves about cancer prevention, screening, and early detection.2019-2020 Coaches vs. Cancer Suits And Sneakers games will support childhood cancer research, services, and awareness, as well as promote cancer prevention efforts targeting children.

Following Monday's contest, the Seahawks will take the road for a matchup with Bryant on Thursday night at 7pm, before traveling to Central Connecticut on Saturday at 3:30 pm.
