Staten Island, NY – The Wagner College men's basketball team will host LIU in a 4 pm tip-off on Martin Luther King Day at the Spiro Sports Center.

Celebrating Martin Luther King Day
As part of the Northeast Conference's (NEC) #AllinBallOut campaign, the Seahawks will be playing a rare Monday matchup in celebration of Martin Luther King Day. The focus of the day will be on celebrating diversity, equality and unity on both our campuses and throughout our local communities.

Seahawks vs. Sharks
Wagner and LIU will be renewing one of the oldest rivalries in the Northeast Conference (NEC). Last season, Wagner swept the series against LIU, including a 71-59 victory at the Spiro Sports Center in the rematch of the 2018 NEC Championship game. Overall, this will be the 110th meeting between the two schools, with LIU holding a 61-48 advantage. All-time, Wagner is 25-29 against the Blackbirds on Staten Island. Head coach Bashir Mason holds a career record of 10-7 against the Sharks. Since 1990, the Green & White are 36-28 vs. LIU. Monday's game marks the first time LIU will play Wagner as the Sharks after the consolidation of LIU Brooklyn and LIU Post

The Seahawks' offense features two of the league's top 12 scorers in graduate student Curtis Cobb III and junior Alex Morales.  Coming into the week Cobb was third in the Northeast Conference (NEC) with 17.2 points per game, while Morales checked in 11th in the league with 14.1 points per contest. Court General
Junior Chase Freeman continues to lead the Seahawks at point guard this season. Coming into the week, the third-year Seahawk was second in the league with 35.67 minutes per game and third in the NEC in assist-turnover ratio (2.15).

Scouting The Sharks
NEC Preseason favorite LIU dropped its conference opener against Mount St. Mary's, but has won four straight in league play since then to even its overall record to 9-9. On Saturday, the Sharks earned a 74-60 road victory over Bryant.
