Game Notes Wagner

Staten Island, NY – The Wagner College men's basketball team returns home for consecutive home games this weekend, starting with a 4 pm matchup against cross-town foe St. Francis Brooklyn on Saturday.

Dynamic Duo
The Seahawks' offense features two of the league's top 12 scorers in graduate student Curtis Cobb III and junior Alex Morales. Cobb is third in the Northeast Conference (NEC) with 17.2 points per game, while Morales checks in 11th in the league with 14.1 points per contest. Wagner is one of four schools to have two top-12 scorers, joining Sacred Heart, Saint Francis U, and LIU.
Court General
Junior Chase Freeman continues to lead the Seahawks at point guard this season. The third-year Seahawk is currently second in the league with 35.67 minutes per game and third in the NEC in assist-turnover ratio (2.15).

All-Time vs. St. Francis Brooklyn
Thursday's contest will mark the 97th time these teams are squaring off with the Terriers holding a 53-44 advantage in the head-to-head series. Wagner's last victory over St. Francis Brooklyn came on February 3, 2018, a 79-61 victory at the Spiro Sports Center.

Mixing It Up
Head Coach Bashir Mason used his eighth different starting lineup of the season in both road contests last week. Overall, ten Seahawks have seen at least one start this year. Mason opened conference play with the same starting lineup in consecutive games, but switched it up for the road games at SFU and Robert Morris.

Alumni Day
As part of Saturday's doubleheader against St. Francis Brooklyn, Wagner will celebrate Alumni Day, welcoming back all former Seahawk players and coaches.

Scouting The Terriers
St. Francis Brooklyn enters the weekend with a 7-9 overall record and 1-3 record. In a midweek clash against Wagner's next opponent, LIU, the Terriers suffered a 69-66 defeat. Chauncey Hawkins leads St. Francis Brooklyn with 14.5 points per game, while Rob Higgins averages 14 points per game in NEC play.
