Staten Island, NY – Fresh off its training trip to Florida, the Wagner College swimming and diving team will travel to NYU on Saturday, before hosting Rhode Island on Sunday morning at the Spiro Sports Center.
Aside from daily practices in preparation for February's Northeast Conference (NEC) championship meet, the Seahawks also competed in the Orange Bowl Swim Classic, finishing third behind Michigan and FIU.
Overall, Wagner is 6-1 in dual meets on the season and 3-0 against non-conference competition this season.
NYU, which competes in NCAA Division III, is 1-1 on the season, but took first place at the Bomber Invitational, hosted by Ithaca College, to close out the 2019 calendar year.
URI enters the weekend undefeated at 6-0 in dual meets on the year and also ended the first half of the season with a first place finish, topping the competition at the Harold Anderson Invitational.
Sunday's meet will mark the first home meet of the season for the Seahawks. Last year, Wagner picked up six individual victories against Rhode Island, as sophomore

Makenna Depuydt, and senior
Emily Moore each recorded two victories against the Rams.

Frederikke Mertins comes into the weekend with the fastest time in the NEC in the 200 Breast (
2:18.99), while fellow first-year Sehawk
Maile Mora has the fastest time in the circuit in the 400 IM in
4:27.09.
Following this weekend's competition, Wagner will close out the regular season against LIU at the Spiro Sports Center on January 25.
