The Seahawks and Terriers were tight throughout the entirety of the game, with the lead never exceeding more than two goals. The opening quarter was a defensive battle and ended 0-0.
In the second quarter, a trio of goals by Captain
Matthew Miller,
Jordi Alonso, and Oliver Fodor would get Wagner on the board. However, a late goal by the Terriers would put St. Francis Brooklyn in the lead 4-3 at the halftime break.
The back and forth battle would continue in the second half. Two goals from
Matthew Miller, along with single goals from both
Lachlan Trabinger and
Vuk Bulajic, would give the Green & White a slim one goal lead to end the third quarter at 7-6.
In the final stanza, Bulajic would complete his hat trick with a pair of goals, but a Terrier goal with only 12 seconds left to play would prove to be the decisive tally as the game ended with a final score of 10-9 in favor of St. Francis Brooklyn.
No. 16 California-Baptist 17, Wagner 6
After a tight, back and forth loss in their morning match, the Green & White were looking to bounce back against No. 16 California-Baptist. Right out of the gates, the Lancers proved deserving of their ranking as they took a dominant 4-0 lead within the first quarter. A late goal by
Vuk Bulajic to put the Seahawks on the board put the score at the end of the first quarter at 4-1.
In the second quarter,
Jordi Alonso converted a foul shot to get Wagner to two goals for the day, but a pair of goals for Cal-Baptist would have the halftime score at 6-2.
The Lancers' offense would erupt for 11 goals in the second half, including six unanswered to start the fourth quarter. Bulajic, András Bimbó-Szhuai, and
Nicolas Butelet would each add one goal to the Wagner total in the half, resulting in a final score of 17-6.
The Seahawks will be back in the pool Friday, September 13 at the annual Princeton Invite, going up against Iona at 3:45 pm and a rematch against St. Francis-Brooklyn at 7:30 pm.
