BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — Wagner Athletics Media Relations Assistant Ana Magaña Campos has been named the 2025-26 Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference (MAWPC) Sports Information Director of the Year.

Selected by the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Director of Communications, the SID of the Year award is presented to individuals who "have achieved notable excellence in the field of water polo communications during the past academic year."

Magaña is the first Wagner athletics communications staff member to earn the honor and follows Fordham University's Scott Kwiatowski (2025, 2023, 2022-East), the United States Naval Academy's Chris Whitehead (2024, 2021-East, 2019-East), Bucknell University's Cole Cloonan (2020-East), George Washington University's Eric Detwiler (2018-East) and Justin Moore (2017-East), along with Gannon University's Bob Shreve (2022-West), David Rung (2021-West), Kayla Peterson (2020-West), Josh Hill (2019-West), Levi Rex (2018-West, 2017-West) and Dan Teliski (2017-West), to earn an MAWPC Sports Information honor since the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) split its men's competition into the MAWPC and Northeast Water Polo Conference (NWPC) during the summer of 2016.

As the primary media contact for both water polo programs, Magaña covered the men's team during its 2025 campaign, which culminated in an MAWPC Championship appearance, and the women's team throughout its 2026 MAAC Championship season, which concluded with a conference title and an NCAA Tournament berth. During her first year with Wagner, both water polo programs enjoyed successful seasons highlighted by team success and individual accomplishments.

The men's program earned numerous conference and national honors during the 2025 campaign. Laszlo Strasser was named to the All-MAWPC First Team and earned ACWPC Honorable Mention All-America recognition after also being selected as the MAWPC Player of the Week. Smith Connors received All-MAWPC Honorable Mention honors and was also named an ACWPC Honorable Mention All-American. Filip Petrovic earned MAWPC Defensive Player of the Week honors, while Landon Castillo was recognized as the MAWPC Newcomer of the Week. Collectively, the men's program garnered multiple weekly conference awards, all-conference selections, and national recognition throughout the season.

On the women's side, the program earned numerous conference and national honors during the 2026 campaign. Ana Arias Pérez was named the MAAC Offensive Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year, while Magali Ogg earned All-MAAC First Team honors, Francesca Sena was selected to the All-MAAC Second Team and Catherine Mentz received All-MAAC Honorable Mention recognition. The program also had multiple student-athletes earn NCAA Championship Game Day selections and ACWPC All-America recognition.

Magaña joined the Wagner Athletics Media Relations department in July 2025 as a Media Relations Graduate Assistant. She serves as the primary contact for the men's and women's water polo programs, while also serving as the primary contact for the men's and women's golf teams.

Prior to her arrival on Grymes Hill, Magaña served as one of the lead graphic designers for the University of Wisconsin Athletics Marketing and Creative Department. She graduated from Wisconsin in May 2025 with dual bachelor's degrees in Graphic Design and Communication. During her time as a Badger, she also worked as the social media assistant for the Wisconsin Sports Business Conference, where she provided event coverage and created digital content. A native of Sevilla, Spain, Magaña competed internationally as a member of the Spanish National Team and was also a member of Wisconsin's rowing team.

While at Wagner, Magaña is pursuing a Master of Business Administration (MBA) alongside her responsibilities in the Media Relations department.
