IWLCA Release
Staten Island, NY – Seven members of the 2019 Northeast Conference (NEC) champion, Wagner women's lacrosse team, are among 518 student-athletes from 101 different institutions who have been honored for inclusion in the 2019 Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Zag Sports Division I Academic Honor Roll.
The seven Seahawks receiving this distinction include seniors
Megan Drum (Biopsychology),
Maggie Jent (Business Administration),
Kirsten Monte (Art), and
Stephanie Roberts (English), along with juniors
Sarah Fisher (Psychology),
Lindsay Haas (Business Administration), and
Cassidy Hall (Spanish).
For Drum, Jent, Monte and Roberts, this marks the second consecutive year that they have been named to the IWLCA Division I Academic Honor Roll.
To be eligible for this honor, student-athletes must be a junior, senior, or graduate student and have earned a cumulative academic GPA of 3.50 or greater. All student-athletes were nominated by their schools, have achieved at least junior status academically, and had a cumulative academic GPA of 3.50 or greater.
In 2019, the Seahawks, led by first-year head coach
Michelle Tumolo, claimed their third NEC Championship in the last four years, as well as the program's second NCAA Tournament win while recording the most victories in a single season.
For the season, the Green and White went 16-4 overall, 7-1 in league.
After earning a hard-fought 7-6 win at Mount St. Mary's in the NEC Championship game, the earned an
equally thrilling 15-14 NCAA opening round comeback win at Metro Atlantic Athletic Association (MAAC) Fairfield, before falling to Princeton in round one.
