Lewisburg, PA – The No. 18 ranked Wagner women's water polo team travels to
Lewisburg, PA to compete at the
Bucknell Invite on February 9-10. The Seahawks will take on Saint Francis U, Gannon, and a pair of ranked opponents in No. 17 Harvard and No. 24
Bucknell.
Head coach Chris
Radmonovich seeks his
200th career coaching win this weekend. The ninth-year head coach is just three wins shy of accomplishing the feat as he enters the weekend with a career record of 197-97 (.670).
The Seahawks went 3-1 last weekend at the Brown Invite against three of the four upcoming opponents (SFU, Bucknell and Harvard). In the three victories (Brown, Saint Francis U and Bucknell), Wagner outscored their opponents, 45-16. The Green & White fell to then ranked No. 18, Harvard, 15-12.
Sophomore
Katherine Campbell was tabbed the MAAC Defensive Player of the Week for the sixth time in her young
Seahawk career. The second-year Seahawk made 23 saves in four games. The Regina, Saskatchewan native posted a .536 save percentage in leading Wagner to a trio of victories.
Freshman Philippa Nash garnered her first Rookie of the
Week honors after tallying seven goals in just her second weekend wearing a Green & White cap. The Canberra, Australia native also dished out two assists and posted a .416 shooting percentage for the weekend.
Scouting The Opponents:
The Red Flash enter the weekend at 1-3 while Gannon makes its season debut at the Bucknell Invite. The host Bison sport a 3-1 record and entered the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Top-25 at No. 24. Harvard, who moved up one spot in the weekly poll to No. 17, remains unbeaten in 2019.
Bucknell Invite Schedule:
Wagner opens the two-day tournament against Saint Francis U at 9:00 a.m. and concludes the first day of competition against Gannon at 6:00 p.m. The Seahawks resume play on Sunday with a 9:20 a.m. match against Bucknell before squaring off against Harvard at 1:20 p.m.
Next For Wagner:
Wagner opens the month of March in Bloomington, IN as the Seahawks compete in the Indiana University Invitational on March 2-3. The Seahawks will open the tournament against California State University, Northridge (CSUN) Matadors at 11:20 a.m. followed by a 6:00 p.m. contest against the host Hoosiers. The Green & White closes out play on Sunday against Mercyhurst (10:40 a.m.) and Salem University (3:10 PM).
