Kelsey Fee has earned Northeast Conference (NEC) Women's Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week, the league office announced on Monday.
Fee came up big in Wagner's 14-4 victory over Iona on February 13 in what was not only the home opener for the 2019 Seahawks, but also the first home game under head coach
Michelle Tumolo.
Against the Gaels, the White Plains, NY native came up with seven big saves against the Wagner's MAAC counterparts, while allowing just those four goals. With the Seahawks leading 5-3 at halftime, with Fee accounting for four saves in the opening 30 minutes. During the second half, Fee and her defensive teammates limited Iona to just one single score in outscoring the Gaels 9-1 following the intermission.
Combined with the 14 saves she recorded in Wagner's season-opening loss at Vanderbilt, the White Plains, NY native has 21 saves on the season, in addition to collecting five ground balls.
This marks the second time in Fee's career that she has earned this accolade. On April 16, 2017, the transfer from Ithaca College registered 14 saves against Mount St. Mary's during her redshirt sophomore season, helping the Seahawks come away with a 9-8 overtime victory.
For her career, Fee has come up with 209 saves in 38 games played.
Wagner is next in action on Tuesday, February 19 when the Green & White travel to Hofstra with first-draw between the Seahawks and the Pride set for 3:00 p.m.
