Staten Island, NY – The first home game of the
Michelle Tumolo era is set to take place at Hameline Field on Wednesday, February 13 when the Wagner women's lacrosse team hosts the Iona College Gaels in a 3:00 p.m. contest.
The Seahawks opened the 2019 season at Vanderbilt on Sunday where they dropped a 16-7 decision to the Commodores Vanderbilt's rain-soaked Lacrosse Complex.
Wednesday's Northeast Conference (NEC)-Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) tussle will mark the eighth all-time meeting between the schools, and have met in each of the last four seasons following a nine-year hiatus.
While Iona holds a 6-1 lead in the series, including six straight since Wagner won the first meeting between back in 2005, the rivalry has been a close and competitive one. In the seven games played between the schools, the average final score has been Iona 13.3-Wagner 10.6, which includes two one-goal verdicts and two others decided by two goals.

In Sunday's opener, the defending Northeast Conference (NEC) champion Seahawks trailed Vandy by just a 3-2 count midway through the first half before the Commodores put together a 7-0 run, in building a 10-2 lead at the break, en route to the victory.

Anna Belle Reilly was Wagner's leading goal-scorer on the day with three tallies.
Sophomore midfielder
Erin Kerstetter had the distinction of scoring the first goal in the
Michelle Tumolo era in the opening half, a score that was a precursor of things to come for the speedy 5-1 playmaker. As the game wore, the diminutive South Jersey dynamo would go on to record a team-high four points on two goals and two assists, while continuing to fill up the stat columns to the tune of a team-best five draw controls, three ground balls, and two caused turnovers.

In goal, redshirt senior
Kelsey Fee matched her career high of 14 saves while playing the entire 60 minutes between the pipes. Defensively, in front of Fee, senior
Maggie Jent recorded a career-high five caused turnovers, to go with two groundballs.

Maddie Courtney was active as well, leading the team with four ground balls while being credited with one caused turnover.
Following Wednesday's contest vs. the Gaels, Wagner is back at it on Tuesday, February 19 when the Green & White make the approximate one hour, (35-mile) drive east to the Hofstra University campus located in Long Island's Hempstead, NY.
Opening draw between the Seahawks and the Pride is set for 3:00 p.m.
