Philadelphia, PA – The Wagner College men's basketball team could not overcome an early deficit, dropping a 74-60 decision to La Salle at Tom Gola Arena on Wednesday night.
In the loss, graduate student
Curtis Cobb III scored his 1,000
th career point with a three-pointer with 13:35 to play in the second half. After scoring 687 points in two years at Fairfield and 193 points in one season at UMass, Cobb eclipsed the milestone in his seventh game in a Wagner uniform.
With the setback, the Seahawks fall to 2-7 on the season, while the Explorers improve to 7-3 this year.

Alex Morales once again led the Seahawks with 17 points, while freshman
Ja'Mier Fletcher scored in double digits for the first time in his young career, contributing 12 points and five rebounds. Junior
Nigel Jackson was the third Seahawk in double figures with 10 points, while sophomore
Tyrone Nesby IV led Wagner with seven rebounds.
After the Explorers jumped out to an early double-digit lead, the Seahawks rallied and a Nesby tip-in with time expiring in the first half cut into the deficit to make it 37-21 at the halfway point.
In the second half, the Green and White fought back into the game, as a three by Morales and Cobb's record breaker gave Wagner six points in less than 20 seconds.
The Seahawks further cut into the deficit late in the game, as a three by Jackson capped an 8-2 run and made it an 11-point game at 69-58 with 1:30 to play, but the Explorers came away with the victory.
Wagner shot 58.3% from deep and 41.9% from the field and outscored La Salle 39-37 in the second half, while holding La Salle to 37.7% from the field throughout the contest.
Both teams were even with 22 bench points, while the Seahawks held the advantage in the paint, outscoring the Explorers 20-16.
Next up, the Seahawks will return to the Spiro Sports Center for a matchup with Army on Saturday, December 21, with tip-off set for 2 pm.
