Staten Island, NY – The Seahawks will conclude their regular season this Friday, taking on the Merrimack Warriors at 3:00 pm in the Wagner College Field Hockey Complex.
LAST TIME OUT FOR WAGNER…
The Wagner field hockey team fell to the Sacred Heart Pioneers, 4-0 on Wednesday night in New Haven, CT, after being postponed due to excessive rain on Sunday afternoon.
The Pioneers took an early lead over the Seahawks when Colleen McAninely tipped in a shot from Kayla Kruk only a minute and seven seconds into the first quarter, the only goal scored during the first 15 minutes.
Both teams would come out slow in the second stanza, with only a single shot recorded in the period by the host Pioneers.
Sacred Heart struck twice to begin the second half, extending their lead to 3-0 a little over three minutes into the third quarter. Kruk scored first, recording her fourth goal of the season while Bridget LaRiccia tallied the Pioneers third goal two minutes later on a pass from Kelsy Hopkins.
In the final quarter, Marlena Koellner added a fourth score for the Pioneers, helping them to an eventual final score of 4-0.
Freshman goalkeeper
Justine Van Spengler played all 60 minutes for the first time in her Wagner career, recording five saves on 13 shots.
