Staten Island, NY -  The Wagner College women's soccer team will look to extend its unbeaten streak to three on Friday evening when the Seahawks host the Robert Morris University Colonials at Hameline Field in a 7:00 p.m. start.

LAST TIME OUT FOR WAGNER:
  • Freshman Annie White and senior Maria Nunez netted goals in the second half as  Wagner and Sacred Heart played to a 2-2 draw on Friday evening.
  • The Seahawks generated the first chance in the fourth minute, but Nunez's try was denied by Sacred Heart goalkeeper Elyssa Kipperman.
  • SHU outshot Wagner 8-4 in the first stanza, opened the scoring on a goal from Azria Malloy in the 10th minute and upped its lead by two in the 20th minute after Michelle Clarkin found the back of the net.
  • A minute into the second half, the Pioneers nearly tripled its advantage but Desiree Crawford's penalty kick rang off the post.
  • Wagner made it a 2-1 match in the 57th minute. After a free kick, White found a loose ball inside the six-meter box and scored.
  • With 30 seconds remaining in regulation, Nunez had a shot stopped from point-blank range.
  • On the ensuing corner, the home team earned a penalty kick. With the ball on the spot, Nunez founded the upper-right hand corner of the net with eight seconds left to even the score, 2-2.
  • Nunez created Wagner's best chance of the extra sessions, but sent a free kick high in the 103rd minute.
  • Freshman Erin Kelly made three saves in the draw.

SERIES HISTORY:
  • This evening's contest marks the 26th all-time meeting between the Seahawks and Colonials with Robert Morris leading the head-to-head matchup, 14-10-1.
  • The Seahawks are looking to snap a four-match losing streak to RMU, last earning a victory back on October 5, 2014, in Moon Township, PA, 1-0.
  • All-time, Wagner is 7-6-1 at Hameline Field, with the Green & White looking for its first win at home since October 27, 2013, when the Seahawks defeated the Colonials, 1-0.

HOW WAGNER RANKS IN THE NCAA:
  • As of September 29, out of 335 Division I schools, the Green & White rank 11th nationally in shot accuracy, converting on 56.5 percent. This mark is also tops in the Northeast Conference (NEC).
  • Additionally, the team is among the top-100 in saves per game, averaging 5.10 a contest.
  • Individually, senior tri-captain Maria Nunez ranks among the top-100 players in the NCAA in goals per game (.56) and shot accuracy (57.9%).
  • In the league, Nunez is tied with CCSU's Roma McLaughlin in goals per game and points per game (1.22) while sharing the top spot with McLaughlin and Sacred Heart's Michelle Clarkin.

NUNEZ CONTINUES CLIMBING UP ON THE ALL-TIME CAREER LIST:
  • Senior forward and tri-captain, Maria Nunez, continues her climb to several all-time career marks here at Wagner.
  • In 60 career matches, Nunez has netted 13 goals, which ties her for sixth all-time with a pair of former Seahawks in Johanna Konrad ('15) and Samantha Jensen ('15).
  • In adding the penalty kick score, the East Greenwich, RI native has now collected 27 all-time career points, good for ninth all-time. She will need just one point to Jensen for eighth-place.
  • Additionally, her goal was the fifth of the season, tying matching her total from a season ago and ranks 12th on the all-time single-season scoring list. Her next tally will push Nunez into a tie for tenth with Julie Vigliotti (2011) and Jaclyn Santariello (2003), who each netted six goals. The all-time single-season record for goals is 15, set by Cheryl Moore with 15 back in 1997.

ABOUT ROBERT MORRIS :
  • The Colonials enter tonight's contest against the Seahawks with a 3-6-1 overall record and 1-1 in league play.
  • RMU is a point behind Wagner in the league standings.
  • In the last match for the Colonials, an inopportune bounced helped the visiting Bryant Bulldogs take a 1-0 decision on Sunday afternoon.
  • Bryant's Becca Michaud bolted down the right side and crossed the ball into the box. Multiple Colonials made an attempt to protect the goal, the cross bounced off at least one RMU player and trickled behind keeper Sydney Bruckner.
  • Kayla Veloso-Lima and Sheridan Reid each have three goals for the Colonials, both ranking fourth in the NEC while Veloso-Lima is tied for fourth in the conference in points with eight.
  • Bruckner is third in the NEC in Goals Against Average at 1.14 while leading the circuit in save percentage at .859, and saves with 67.

UP NEXT:
  • The Seahawks close out the homestand on Sunday, October 6 with a 1:00 pm kickoff against the Saint Francis U Red Flash.
