Tyler Galantini paced the host Wagner men's golf team, while Fairleigh Dickinson claimed the team title and Manhattan's Preston Shortell claimed the individual title at the third Metropolitan Intercollegiate Championship, which concluded on Monday at prestigiousÂ
Montclair Golf Club in Northern New Jersey.

Monday's action concluded the Metropolitan Intercollegiate Championship after a day one rain out. The round began with a 9:45 a.m. shotgun start as the 16 teams teed it up in chilly conditions on Montclair's 3rd and 2nd nine's which played as a par-70, 6,503-yard test.

The event concluded in exciting fashion as Shortell outdueled FDU's Melan Dhaubhadel in a playoff as each shot 69 on the day. The two competitors played hole 18 to an even-par on the first action of the playoff but Shortell got the edge in the second go-around of hole 18 as he shot par once again while Dhaubhadel shot a one over.

In leading 14
th-place Wagner, Galantini finished in a tie for 37
th place on a round of 76 [+6]. Freshman
Bradley Mogire carded the Seahawks' second-best result, a tie for 52nd (78 [+8]), followed by fellow freshman
Michael Katsman's 79 {+9}. Sophomore
Mario Saludes (81 [+11]), andÂ
Ben Steenland (83 [+13]) rounded out the Wagner team, finishing in a tie for 70th and 76th, respectively.
Competing as individuals, sophomore
Nicholas Dolley recorded a tie for 52nd on a round of 78 [+8] while senior
Brendan Haselton scored a 79 [+9].

Fairleigh Dickinson won the event in a tight battle over Loyola (MD) by a single stroke, 287 to 288. St. John's and Iona tied for third overall with a score of 293.

The Metropolitan Intercollegiate Championship marks the completion of the Seahawks' fall season.
