Providence, RI – The Wagner women's water polo team travels to Providence, RI to compete at the Brown Invite on February 1-3 against host Brown, No. 18 Harvard, Saint Francis University and Bucknell.
The Green & White did not compete last weekend, January 26-27. Last time out, the Seahawks finished 1-3 at the UC Santa Barbara Winter Invite. Wagner fell to Azusa Pacific, No. 6 UC Irvine and host No. 17 UC Santa Barbara before ending the tournament on a high note with an 11-8 victory over No. 15 UC San Diego.
Senior
Erica Hardy was named the conference's Offensive Player of the Week after compiling 9 points at the UCSB Winter Invite. Hardy has started off her final
campaign in style, scoring seven goals while distributing two assists in the Seahawks' four games. The Montreal native recorded two hat tricks against No.6 UC Irvine and No. 17 UC Santa Barbara. She also dished out two assists in an 11-8 win over No. 15 UC San Diego.
Sophomore
Katherine Campbell was tabbed the MAAC Defensive Player of the week after making 34 saves in four games, three of which against nationally ranked opponents in No. 6 UC Irvine, No.17 UC Santa Barbara and No. 15 UC San Diego. The Regina, Saskatchewan native blocked 11 shots in a victory over San Diego.
Freshman
Sofia Diaz Alvarez made it a Wagner sweep in copping Rookie of the
Week honors after tallying six goals in her first weekend wearing a Seahawk cap. The Spaniard also dished out two assists and posted a .316 shooting percentage for the weekend.
The Brown Bears have not yet competed in the 2019 campaign and will open their season against the No. 16 Seahawks on Friday evening. No. 18 Harvard is 2-0 on the season thus far, having defeated Iona and Villanova. The Red Flash of Saint Francis and the Bison of Bucknell each begin the weekend with a 0-0 record to kick off the season.
On Friday, February 1, the Seahawks will begin the tournament taking on host Brown at 5:45 p.m. Saturday will include two matchups, the first of which against No. 18 Harvard at 11:45 a.m., followed by Saint Francis U at 3:30 p.m. The Green & White will wrap up the weekend with an 11:30 a.m. game against Bucknell.

Following this weekend, Wagner will travel to Lewisburg, PA for the Bison Invite, hosted by Bucknell, on February 9-10.
