Staten Island, NY – Newly-hired Wagner head women's lacrosse coach
Michelle Tumolo has finalized her coaching staff with the addition of former University of Florida All-American
Shayna Pirreca as an assistant with the Seahawks.
Pirreca joins
Tumolo and former Fairfield standout,
Alex Fehmel on the
Seahawk staff.
"I am so excited to bring
Shayna on board with Alex and myself," said
Tumplo. "
Shayna has played at the highest level and is a extremely talented and hard working. I had the pleasure of coaching her while I was at Florida, and I truly have never seen someone work as hard as her.
"I cannot wait for this team to learn from her and to grow as a staff throughout the year,"
Tumolo added. "She brings a fun brand of lacrosse to Wagner and I'm lucky to share the sideline with her and Alex. It''s going to be a fun year!"
While with the Gators, where she played for two seasons under
Tumolo, who was an assistant coach at UF at the time,
Pirreca was a three-time All-Big East and All-South Region selection (2016-18).
Nominated for national Rookie of the Year honors in 2015,
Pirreca went on to develop into a two-time
Tewaraaton Award Watch List member. A 2018 All-American and team captain for the Gators,
Pirreca was the number six pick of the Upstate Pride in the 2018 Women's Professional Lacrosse League (
WPLL).
During her stellar collegiate career,
Pirreca tallied a staggering 214 points on 154 goals and 60 assists with a career-high six goals coming vs. Syracuse.
Pirreca, who earned a bachelor of arts degree in history from the University of Florida in 2018, was a tremendous scholastic player at Mount Sinai High School where she totaled 308 goals and 184 assists.
