Staten Island, NY – The Wagner College softball team will travel to Emmitsburg, MD, to continue Northeast Conference (NEC) play on Sunday, April 22, with first pitch of game one set for 12:00 pm.
Last year, junior
Lauren Serrato contributed the game-winning RBI single in game one before 15 hits led to a 15-3 win in game two as part of a sweep over the Mountaineers on Grymes Hill.
This season, the Seahawks are 12-24 on the season and 2-7 in NEC play, while the Mount enters the weekend with an 11-20-1 overall record and a 1-5 conference mark.
Before this week's non-conference action, junior
Karen Prihoda and senior
Morgan Brown were named NEC #PrimePerformers for their efforts last week.
Prihoda continues to be the sparkplug for the Seahawk offense, leading the NEC in doubles with 12, while sitting second in runs scored (28), and third in RBIs (23) and batting average (.343).
Brown is Wagner's ace in the circle, coming into the weekend with a 2.03 ERA in conference play and 37 strikeouts in 38 NEC innings, while holding league competition to a .219 batting average.
Following this weekend's action, the Seahawks will play their final non-conference doubleheader at Iona on Wednesday, April 25, starting at 2:00 pm.
