Stanford, CA – The Wagner College softball team is readying for its third stop on this year's spring trip to California, as the Seahawks will play five games in three days against CSU Bakersfield as well as Pac-12-member Stanford.
Wagner is coming off a pair of losses against Sacramento State this Tuesday and will take on the Roadrunners on Friday in a 1:00 pm PT first pitch, followed by a matchup with the Cardinal at 3:30 pm PT.
Against the Hornets, Wagner was once again paced by junior
Karen Prihoda, who delivered a two-run double in the fifth inning to give the Seahawks a 3-2 lead, before falling 5-3. The 2017 First Team All-NEC and CoSIDA Academic All-District selection leads the Green and White with eight hits this year, followed by junior
Lauren Serrato and sophomore
Zoe Bender, who have seven hits apiece.
On the mound, Wagner will once again rely on the services of freshman
Arielle Koerber, who was last week's Northeast Conference (NEC) Rookie of the Week after her performances during Wagner's opening weekend in North Carolina. Koerber leads the Green & White with 32 innings pitched, sporting a 2.84 ERA on the year.
The Roadrunners are coming into the tournament with a 1-12 record on the season, while the Cardinal enter the weekend with a 13-8 mark.
After this weekend, Seahawks, who are 2-7 on the young season, return to the East Coast for their first games of the year in New York State, as the Seahawks travel to Manhattan for a doubleheader scheduled for March 20 at 2:00 pm.
