Staten Island, NY – The No. 12-ranked Wagner women's water polo team travels to Princeton, NJ for a four-game stint at the Princeton Invite, hosted by Princeton University February 17-18.
After not competing last weekend, the Green & White open up the tournament against a Chinese National Select team on Saturday, February 17 at 9:15 a.m. This is the first time that Wagner has ever competed against a nation's national select team. Following the morning matchup, the Seahawks will face No. 21-ranked Harvard of the Ivy League in a 2:15 p.m. confirm. The Crimson (3-2) are coming off a 10-8 loss to No.13 San Diego State on February 3 at the Bruno Classic.
These teams meet for the first time this year as Harvard looks for redemption against the Green & White, after
Wagner edged them 4-3 on March 3, 2017.
Wagner will then face a pair of teams who each received votes in this week's
CWPA Top 25 Poll in George Washington (3-1) and Bucknell (6-2), with these games set to start at 8:00 a.m and 10:45 a.m., respectively. The GW Colonials defeated MAAC-rival Saint Francis U 21-13 on February 11 at the Bucknell Invitational, while this will be the first matchup between GW and Wagner this season.
The Green & White meet the Bison for the second time this season after
the Seahawks emerged victorious in a close 13-10 defeat on February 4 at the Brown Invite. The Seahawk offense came out strong in the fourth period, with three unanswered goals from sophomore attack
Jacqui Sjogren, senior utility
Kimberly Watson, and senior attack
Elise Begg. Bucknell's Marta Considine tallied one in the fourth but it wouldn't be enough, as Watson added two more insurance goals to secure the 13-10 win.
The Seahawks are on a four game win-streak, after defeating No. 13 Hartwick College at the Michigan Invite to secure their first win of the 2018 campaign, before sweeping McKendree University, No. 13 San Diego State University, and No. 25 Bucknell at the Brown Invite on February 3-4.
All four events will be streamed live on the Ivy League Network. To watch each game (premium content), click below:
