Staten Island, NY – The Wagner College swimming and diving team celebrated its six seniors,
Leahi Camacho,
Erin Finn,
Kirsty Hessing,
Sam Lavrich,
Maddie McNichol, and
Grace Solipaca, in a pregame ceremony before going on to record a 150-90 victory over LIU Brooklyn in the Seahawks' regular season finale on Saturday at the Spiro Sports Center.
With the victory, the Green & White conclude the regular season with a perfect 6-0 Northeast Conference (NEC) record as well as a 4-0 mark at home, and a 10-1 overall record in dual meets.
On Saturday, Wagner won both relay competitions. The 500 Medley Relay team, consisting of sophomores
Emily Moore and
Colleen Higgins, junior
Andrea Gustafsson, and Hessing, took first-place honors in 3:58.56, while the 200 Free Relay, made up of sophomore
Kelsey Eastman, junior
Dorian McMenemy, Hessing, and Gustafsson, clocked in at 1:39.66.
Individually, sophomore Makenna DePuydt and freshman
Hande Kivanc both won two events apiece. Depuydt earned first place finishes in the 200 Free (1:55.84) and 500 Free (5:11.37), while Kivanc won the 200 Back (2:07.29) and 200 IM (2:11.28).
McNichol took home first-place honors in the 1000 Free in a time of 10:43.35, while Camacho touched first in the 200 Fly in 2:10.38. Rounding out the Seahawk victories were sophomore
Jenna D'Allegro, with a win in the 200 Breast (2:29.98), Gustafsson, with a win in the 100 Free (53.60), and freshman
Megan Chiu with a win in the 100 Fly (1:00.50).
After this weekend, Wagner will prepare for next month's NEC Championships which will be held the Nassau County Aquatic Center in East Meadow, NY from February 21-24.
