Loretto, PA –
After winning its first Northeast Conference (NEC) Tournament game in 10 years yesterday, the Wagner College softball team fell to #1-seed and host Saint Francis U by a score of 8-1 in its second game of the competition.

The Seahawks will now face the winner of this afternoon's game between #2 Sacred Heart and #4 Robert Morris, with the winner moving on to tomorrow's championship game vs. Saint Francis U.

Wagner combined for five hits throughout the game, with senior Hana Gilbert (Valley Center, CA / Valley Center) becoming the first Seahawk to record a multi-hit game during this year's tournament with two hits, while sophomore Karen Prihoda (Hamilton Square, NJ / The Lawrenceville School), freshman Zoe Bender (Glen Rock, NJ / Glen Rock), and fellow first-year Seahawk Amelia Van Orman (Orange, CA / Lutheran High School of Orange County) recorded base hits as well.

The Green and White took the lead in the first inning, but missed out on a potential breakout inning. Prihoda led off the game with a double to the right field corner, but was gunned down at third trying to leg out a triple. A base hit by Bender and a walk to senior Brianna Tredway (Downingtown, PA / Downingtown West) two batters later set up Gilbert, who singled to right in bringing home Bender and sending Tredway to third. Gilbert was then thrown out at first during the ensuing at-bat in ending the inning.

The Red Flash answered with three runs in the bottom half of the first and two runs apiece in the second and third inning, ending senior McKaleigh Goodale's (Bradenton, FL / Lakewood Ranch) morning after 2.2 innings. Senior Gina Massaro (Levittown, PA / Conwell-Egan Catholic) came on in relief of Goodale, striking out five batters during her first 2.1 innings in the circle before giving up one run in the sixth. Massaro finished the day with six K's overall, while striking out the side in the fourth.

Offensively, the Red Flash were led by Jordan Seneca, who contributed two hits, two runs and one RBI, while Ketarah DeVries picked up the victory.
