Loretto, PA – Senior
Brianna Tredway (Downingtown, PA / Downingtown West) launched a three-run home run in the bottom of the fifth as part of a four-RBI performance and freshman
Alyssa Tucker (Laguna Niguel, CA / Santa Margarita Catholic) made a diving stop to preserve the victory with two outs in the seventh to lift the Wagner College softball team to a 6-4 victory over Sacred Heart and a Saturday matchup with top-seeded Saint Francis U for the Northeast Conference (NEC) Tournament championship.
The Seahawks will meet the Red Flash at 12:00 pm, but will need two victories to win their first-ever NEC title after falling to SFU earlier today. The Red Flash, who were a perfect 16-0 in NEC regular season play and now 2-0 in the tourney, will also be looking for their first-ever league crown. Overall, SFU boasts a 47-9 season mark.
Wagner compiled just three hits on the afternoon, one each from Tredway, Tucker, and freshman
Zoe Bender (Glen Rock, NJ / Glen Rock), but were abloe to make them count.
The Green and White got on the board early in the first inning. Sophomore
Karen Prihoda (Hamilton Square, NJ / The Lawrenceville School) reached on an error by the Pioneers' shortstop, stole second and third base, and scored on an errant throw home to give Wagner a 1-0 advantage.
The Green & White extended their lead in the third inning in scoring two runs on one hit and one error. Tucker led the frame off with a single to left, followed by a walk to sophomore
Lauren Serrato (Litchfield Park, AZ / Verrado High School). Next up, a high throw by Sacred Heart's shortstop allowed Prihoda to reach and Tucker to score.  Junior
Stefanie Aplin (Nesconset, NY / Smithtown East / Georgian Court University) then reached on a fielder's choice, as Serrato beat out the throw back to third to load the bases for Tredway, who worked a walk to plate Serrato.
The Pioneers fought back into the game, scoring four runs in the fifth inning on five hits, including consecutive RBI doubles, in taking a 4-3 lead.
Trailing by one and nine outs away from elimination, the Seahawks went to work in the bottom half of the inning. With two outs, Bender singled through the right side and promptly stole second. After Aplin walked, Tredway stepped to the plate and delivered one of the biggest hits in program history, a three-run shot over the wall in left field to give Wagner the 6-4 advantage.
Now in front, Wagner had to protect its lead and the Seahawks did just that. After junior
Morgan Brown (Buckeye, AZ / Verrado) started the game, going 4.2 innings and giving up three runs while striking out four, senior
McKaleigh Goodale (Bradenton, FL / Lakewood Ranch) came on in relief to earn the victory. The senior struck out two batters in the top of the seventh but also gave up two singles, before a diving stop and flip to second base by Tucker preserved the win.

The Pioneers had nine hits on the afternoon, but committed three costly errors in losing the game.
