Box Score

Queens, NY –
The Wagner College softball team dropped its first game in the state of New York in 2017, as the Seahawks lost a 10-2 decision to Big East members St. John's on Wednesday in Queens.

With the loss, the Seahawks move to 0-6 on the season, while the Red Storm improve to 11-8.

The Green and White's two runs came in the top of the sixth inning. After senior Brianna Tredway (Downingtown, PA / Downingtown West) reached on an error by the Red Storm's shortstop, the Seahawks loaded the bases on hits by Hana Gilbert (Valley Center, CA / Valley Center) and sophomore Stefanie Aplin (Nesconset, NY / Smithtown East / Georgian Court University).

Following consecutive strikeouts, freshman Kat Holmes-Stall (Trabuco Canyon, CA / Santa Margarita Catholic) delivered a single to left field, scoring Tredway to get Wagner on the board. During the next at-bat, a wild pitch by the Red Storm allowed pinch-runner Ashley Lubisky (Jenkintown, PA / Springside Chestnut Hill Academy) to score, giving the Seahawks their second run of the game.

St. John's opened the game with six runs in the bottom of the first, adding one more in the third and three in the sixth inning, as six different players recorded one or more RBIs.
In the pitching circle, senior McKaleigh Goodale (Bradenton, FL / Lakewood Ranch) suffered the loss, while freshman Amelia Van Orman (Orange, CA / Lutheran High School of Orange County) threw 4.1 innings in relief.

Offensively, sophomore Karen Prihoda (Hamilton Square, NJ / The Lawrenceville School) and Erica Krumbine (Freehold, NJ / Saint John Vianney High School), along with freshman Zoe Bender (Glen Rock, NJ / Glen Rock) also had base hits in today's contest.

Up next, Wagner will play nine games in the upcoming days, starting with the Utah State Tournament, where the Seahawks will face Utah State, Southern Utah, Bradley, and Southern Utah University.
