Softball Travels To Big East Member, St. John’s, Wednesday Afternoon

Staten Island, NY – The Wagner College softball team heads to Queens, NY on March 8 as they take on the Big East members, St. John's, on Wednesday afternoon.

Between Road Trips: The Seahawks are in between their two long road trips of the season, as they played their first games of the season in North Carolina at the Elon Tournament this past weekend and will travel to the Utah State Tournament starting this upcoming Friday.

Wagner's Start To The Season: The Green and White return from Elon, NC with a 0-5 record after two defeats against Elon and St. Joseph's along with a loss vs. Iona. Senior Brianna Tredway (Downingtown, PA / Downingtown West) is leading Wagner with five hits on the season, while sophomore standout Karen Prihoda (Hamilton Square, NJ / The Lawrenceville School) is first on the team in RBIs and runs with two each.

Freshman Power: First-year Seahawk Christina Harkins (Staten Island, NY / Notre Dame Academy) has the Seahawks' only home run of the season. The Staten Island native homered to left center in the third inning for her first collegiate RBI in Wagner's game against Elon on day two of the tournament.

Last Meeting: The Seahawks dropped an 11-3 decision at the 2015 Big East Champion St. Johns last season. Seahawks right fielder Lauren Serrato (Litchfield Park, AZ/Verrado) paced the Seahawks going 2-for-3 with one RBI along while catcher Jessica Carlucci (Manalapan, NJ/Saint John Vianney), also had two hits.  Third baseman Aerika High recorded a RBI triple with one run scored as did Prihoda.

Scouting The Red Storm: St. John's is coming into tomorrow's matchup with a 10-8 record after playing in three in different states, Florida, California, and Tennessee. The Red Storm won their first game at the USF-Wilson DeMarini Tournament over Delaware, but fell to No. 4 Florida, No. 6 Michigan and Illinois State, before picking up three wins at the FAU Invitational and three wins apiece at the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic and Buccaneer Classic.

Up Next For The Seahawks: Wagner will play nine games in the upcoming days, starting with the Utah State Tournament, where the Seahawks will face Utah State, Southern Utah, Bradley, and Southern Utah University.
