Brooklyn, NY - In the nightcap of Friday's Northeast Conference (NEC) doubleheader between the Wagner College baseball team and the Fairleigh Dickinson University Knights, it was another nail-biter at MCU Park. Runs is the top of the eighth and ninth doomed the Seahawks as Wagner was defeated by the Knights, 4-2, on Friday evening.
With the loss, the Seahawks fell to 0-2 in league play, 2-12 overall while FDU improved to 4-9 and 2-0 in conference tilts.

Brad Currao (Howell, NJ/St. Rose) and sophomore catcher
Phil Capra (North Salem, NY/North Salem) each had two hits in the second game of Friday's doubleheader while Godino and sophomore 3B
Anthony Pecora (Mamaroneck, NY/Mamaroneck) each drove in a run.
On the bump, freshman RHP
Chris Mormile (Wildwood, NJ/Wildwood) went six innings, giving up three hits, two earned runs while walking three and striking out a career-high seven batters. Sophomore LHP
Neil Abbatiello (North Salem, NY/Dobbs Ferry) pitched a scoreless inning of relief while freshman
Rico Viani (Monroe Township, NJ/Monroe Township) went two innings, giving up two hits, two runs, walking three and fanning two in suffering the loss. For FDU, Danny Demetrops went the distance, giving up ten hits, two earned runs walking one and striking out seven Seahawks in his 118-pitch outing for the complete game win.
Wagner jumped out to a 1-0 in the bottom of the first. With two-outs, Capra legged out an infield hit. Godino was able to rocket a double to the deepest part of MCU's center field, scoring Capra.The Knights scored twice in their of the second in taking a one-run lead. A pair of back-to-back singles gave FDU runners on first and second, and a walk to James Donlon loaded the bases. A RBI grounder from Mike Veit scored the Knights first run, and Jorge Iza came in on a wild pitch from Mormile.
The game remained scoreless until the bottom of the seventh when the Green & White knotted the game at 2-2. Junior SS
Sean Mazzio (West Chester, PA/Salesianum School) beat out a bunt single. Currao was able to find some room and single through the left side, moving Mazzio to second. After a walk to senior RF
Kyle Cala (Brick, NJ/Brick Memorial), Pecora lofted a high fly ball beyond the second base bag, which Mazzio tagged up and scored but Cala was out on the return throw from the FDU backstop to second.
Fairleigh Dickinson got the go-ahead run in the top of the eighth as Ryan Brennan smashed his second home run of the day, this one going over the left field wall. The Knights added an insurance tally in the top of the ninth as Bobby Romano reached on a fielder's choice grounder, scoring Jason Fatzinger. The Seahawks had a chance in the bottom of the ninth. Currao singled up the middle and moved to second on a fielder's choice but couldn't come into score as Cala struck out on five pitches to close out the game.
These two teams conclude their series under the bright lights of MCU Park, as the Seahawks and Knights meet at 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 25.
