Game 1 Recap – Wagner 5, Manhattan 4
The Jaspers took an early 1-0 in the bottom of the third before the Seahawks tied the score up in their half of the fourth when seniors
Brianna Tredway (Downingtown, PA/Downingtown West) and
Hana Gilbert (Valley Center, CA/Valley Center) connected on back-to-back doubles, which scored Tredway. Manhattan tacked on two more runs in the bottom of the frame, taking a two-run lead into the fifth.
Following a scoreless fifth, the Jaspers added a run in the bottom of the inning, bringing the deficit to 4-1. Wagner had the three outs remaining in the final inning.
Senior
Aerika High (Manheim, PA / Manheim Central) led off with a double to right-center field. Sophomore
Jessica Carlucci (Manalapan, NJ / Saint John Vianney High School) singled, giving the visitors runners on the corners. First-year Seahawk
Kat Holmes-Stall (Trabuco Canyon, CA / Santa Margarita Catholic) singled up the middle to cut the deficit to 4-2 and get the tying run on base. Sophomore
Karen Prihoda (Hamilton Square, NJ / The Lawrenceville School) then came up with the clutch two-run double to right center, which tied the game at four apiece.
Following a Jasper pitching change, freshman

However, Bender was able to move to third on an ensuing wild pitch and a walk to Tredway gave Wagner runners on the corners with two outs. Before Gilbert's at-bat, the Seahawks perfectly executed the double steal, as Tredway advanced to second while Bender gave Wagner the 5-4 lead, which proved to be the winning run.
