Box Score

Cedar City, UT – Five different Seahawks collected RBIs while junior pitcher Morgan Brown (Buckeye, AZ / Verrado) limited the opposition to three runs, and senior reliever McKaleigh Goodale (Bradenton, FL / Lakewood Ranch) became Wagner's all-time saves leader as the Green & White picked up their first victory of the season, defeating Southern Utah 5-3.

Wagner got off to a fast start, as sophomore Karen Prihoda (Hamilton Square, NJ / The Lawrenceville School) led the game off with a bunt single and advanced to second on a wild pitch, before scoring on a Brianna Tredway (Downingtown, PA / Downingtown West) base hit.

The Thunderbirds tied the game in the first inning before the Seahawks took the lead again in the third. A pair of back-to-back singles by junior Stefanie Aplin (Nesconset, NY / Smithtown East / Georgian Court University) and freshman Amelia Van Orman (Orange, CA / Lutheran High School of Orange County) paved the way for freshman Kaila Smith (Millville, NJ / Millville) to pick up her team-leading sixth RBI of the season with a single down the left field line.

In the fourth, freshman Zoe Bender's (Glen Rock, NJ / Glen Rock) fielder's choice allowed sophomore Erica Krumbine to score the Seahawks' third run of the afternoon.

The Seahawks solidified their lead in the top of the fifth, when van Orman's third hit of the afternoon brought home another run, before freshman Alyssa Tucker's groundout allowed van Orman to score and give Wagner a 5-1 lead.

Southern Utah added two more runs in the sixth inning, before Goodale shut the door in the seventh to move past Wagner greats Morgan Miller and Krystle Petty with her seventh career save, while Brown was credited with the victory in the circle.

With the win, Wagner moves to 1-10 on the season, while the Thunderbirds fall to 3-14.

The Seahawks continue their road trip on Wednesday when they travel to Utah Valley for a doubleheader starting at 4:00 pm ET.
