Stony Brook, NY – Fifth-year senior forward Sierra Clark led all scorers with 21 points along with 10 rebounds, seven steals, and five blocks, and the Wagner women's basketball team hung tough at undefeated Stony Brook before the Seawolves pulled away for a 69-50 win at Island Federal Credit Union Arena on Sunday.

With the loss, the Seahawks fall to 1-6 on the season while Stony Brook, which compete in the America East Conference, remains perfect at 5-0.

While Clark was putting together her third double-double of the season, redshirt freshman guard Morgan Lenahan was hitting for double figures for a third time on the season and second straight. Coming off of a career-high 16-point outing at UAlbany on Wednesday, the 5-11 sharpshooter hit for 12 this afternoon on 4-of-6 shooting, including a 3-of-4 effort from three-point range.

Wagner shot a season-best 50 percent (4-of-8) from three-point range. The Seahawks were also solid at the foul line, hitting 71.4 percent (10-of-14) from the charity stripe, while holding their own on the boards, as the Seawolves held a narrow 34-28 edge on the glass.

Wagner raced out to an 8-0 lead in this one on four consecutive buckets from Clark. The Seahawks held a 12-8 lead before Stony Brook closed the first quarter on a 7-0 run to take a 15-12 lead heading into the second. Wagner got to within three points on a Lenahan trey with 4:09 left in the half, before the Seawolves outscored the Seahawks 9-2 in building a 38-26 cushion at the intermission.

Wagner continued to play a gritty brand of basketball in the second half, trading baskets with Stony Brook, as a layup by senior forward Samantha Sullivan made it a 10-point game, at 44-34, with 5:47 remaining in the third quarter. The Seawolves led by a 52-39 margin after three quarters and, after senior guard Tanasia Russell hit a driving layup with 7:10 to go, this was just a 12-point game at 53-41.

Stony Brook then went on an 8-0 run in building its biggest lead of the game at 61-41 with 4:08 left en route to the win. Cheyenne Clark led a balanced Seawolves' offensive effort with 15 points, while Shania Johnson and India Pagan added 14 and 12 points, respectively.

Wagner will play its seventh road game of the season on Thursday, November 30 when the Seahawks head 172 miles south to meet the Towson University Tigers, of the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA,) in a 7:00 p.m. start. Following the matchup at Towson, the Green & White return home for just their second contest at the Spiro Sports Center when they host the Longwood University Lancers on Saturday, December 10 in a 1:00 p.m. start.

The Wagner-Longwood tilt will be the opening game of a doubleheader with the Wagner men to host Division II Mercy College at 4:00 p.m.
