2016 Northeast Conference Women's Tennis Championship Headquarters
West Windsor, NJ - The Wagner women's tennis team will be the No. 6 seed as they will square off against the No. 3 seeded Sacred Heart University Pioneers at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, April 22 at Mercer County Tennis Center in West Windsor, NJ.
The tournament will occur over three days in a single elimination format.
Under the direction of second-year head coach,
Adrienn Hidvegi, the Green & White recorded its second straight winning season, after defeating the Mount St. Mary's Mountaineers, 5-2, in the regular season finale on Monday afternoon.
Leading the way for the Seahawks in the upcoming tournament is junior transfer,
Avika Sagwal (New Delhi, India/Delhi Public High School [Southeastern Louisiana] who posted a team-leading 12 singles victories, nine of which coming in dual matches.
Freshman
Rina Baynes (Johns Creek, GA/Chattahoochee) and junior
Madison Pautsch (Costa Mesa, CA/Edison) enter this year's tournament after posting eight singles wins during the regular season.
Seniors
Jenna Harris (Fountain Hills, AZ/Fountain Hils) and
Marina Rull Valvieso (Barcelona, Spain/IES Antony Cumella [Tarleton State]) combined for 13 wins in singles play while contributing a total of 14 wins in doubles play (along with teammates Sagwal & Pautsch).
