Adrienn Hidvegi, a former standout tennis player at UNLV, embarks on her second season as head coach of the Wagner women’s tennis program after leading the Seahawks to its first winning season in nine years a season ago.
Hidvegi is responsible for all aspects of the women’s tennis program while currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Business Administration.
The 2014-15 Seahawks won eight matches overall, including four of their last five during the fall season. In addition, current Seahawk, Samantha Hodges, became Hidvegi’s first All-Northeast Conference (NEC) honoree as Hodges was selected to the inaugural All-NEC Rookie Team after recording six victories on the year, four of which coming out of the No. 2 singles position.
Hidvegi arrived on Grymes Hill from Las Vegas, NV where she was a tennis instructor at the Dragon Ridge Country Club. While at Dragon Ridge, she taught individual and group lessons for both children and adults.
During her collegiate stint with the Runnin’ Rebels, Hidvegi helped guide UNLV to three straight Mountain West Conference (MWC) Championship titles from 2008-2010 and appeared in the NCAA Tournament in all four of her campaigns, advancing to the NCAA Second Round during the 2010-11 campaign. Individually, she accrued an 88-37 (.704) record and a 55-33 (.625) mark in doubles.
Additionally, Hidvegi earned All-MWC honors in singles as a junior for the 2009-10 season while her 88 wins rank eighth in school history and her .704 win percentage is the ninth highest all-time.
Hidvegi was a three-time member of the MWC All-Academic Team, graduating with a degree in Hospitality Management. She also earned the Dean’s List award, which is presented to athletes that have maintained a 3.2 grade-point average or higher.
Prior to enrolling at UNLV, Hidvegi was a member of the Hungarian National Team and was ranked as high as No. 11.
