Pictured Above: Erica Krumbine (photo by: Jim Hogue)Staten Island, NY – The Wagner softball team (13-18) hits the road for a full weekend of Northeast Conference (NEC) play, heading to Bryant University for a doubleheader on Saturday, April 16, before continuing on to Central Connecticut for a twinbill on Sunday, April 17.
Last Time OutThe Seahawks are coming off a split with Fairfield University this past Wednesday, April 13 as Wagner dropped a 3-1 contest in game one before defeating the Stags 4-3 in the nightcap.
In game two, Wagner hopped on the board first, taking a 1-0 lead in top of the first inning. After a series of back and forth lead changes, Wagner took advantage of two Fairfield errors and pulled away 4-2 in the top of the fifth inning. Fairfield answered in the bottom of the fifth inning and cut the deficit to one at 4-3. Junior
McKaleigh Goodale (Bradenton, FL/Lakewood Ranch) came in to pitch and was credited with her second save of the year. Goodale struck out three batters in 2.2 innings pitched while only allowing one hit. Junior
Gina Massaro (Levittown, PA/Conwell-Egan Catholic) pitched the first 4.1 innings, striking out three batters while scattering six hits en route to picking up her second win of the season.
Scouting the SeahawksFreshman shortstop
Erica Krumbine (Freehold, NJ/Saint John Vianney) has been a force at the plate this week. The 5'2" Krumbine is 6-for-10 with five RBIs and five runs scored on the week thus far, highlighted by a grand slam in game one against Manhattan. She was a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate in game one against Fairfield with a double as well.
Krumbine currently leads the Seahawks with a .352 batting average and .493 slugging percentage while tied for second overall with 13 RBIs.
Junior centerfielder
Brianna Tredway (Downingtown, PA/Downingtown West) leads the squad with 38 hits on the year while second overall with a .349 batting average.

Player to Watch: Elle Madsen
Bryant hosts Wagner after being shut out 7-0 by the Providence Friars on Wednesday afternoon. Providence took an early 1-0 lead after the first inning and then went on a scoring frenzy in the top of the sixth, tallying six more runs. Taylor Burger and Robyn Ukegawa contributed a pair of hits each for the Bulldogs.
Senior Elle Madsen leads the Bulldogs in batting average (.259), on base percentage (.310), hits (21) and runs scored (13). In 28 games started, the pitcher has registered seven RBIs and two home runs.
In the circle, the senior holds the lowest earned run average (4.05). With her 2-8 record, Madsen has 35 strikeouts while giving up 62 hits in 64.0 innings pitched.
Two of Bryant's three wins have come vs. NEC teams. The Bulldogs opened conference play with a split against Sacred Heart, defeating the Pioneers 1-0 in game one. The second win also came in a split with the NEC Preseason favorite, LIU Brooklyn. Bryant earned a 5-1 win in game two of the doubleheader against the Blackbirds.

Player to Watch: Kaitlin Paterson
The Blue Devils were blanked by UConn 6-0 Wednesday afternoon. After cracking the scoreboard in the first inning to take a 1-0 lead, the Huskies tacked on another five runs in the fifth inning to secure the victory. Central Connecticut recorded four hits, all singles, from four different players.
Freshman Kaitlin Paterson leads Blue Devils in batting average (.315), hits (28) and doubles (7). In 27 games started, she has accumulated 11 RBIs and scored 11 runs while producing a .393 slugging percentage.
