Junior
Brianna Tredway (Downingtown, PA/Downingtown West) and freshman catcher
Jessica Carlucci (Manalapan, NJ/Saint John Vianney) were both named to the Hatter Classic All-Tournament team. Tredway went 4-for-5 with a double, three runs scored and two RBI in the leadoff spot in the Seahawks 8-7 victory over Bethune-Cookman. She finished the weekend with five runs scored, three RBIs and two doubles on nine hits. Carlucci finished the five-game series going 7-for-16 overall at the plate with two doubles and six RBIs.
Wagner started out the game defensively strong, turning a double play to hold off the Stags in the top of first inning.
In the bottom of the first inning, freshman second baseman
Karen Prihoda (Hamilton Square, NJ/The Lawrenceville School) singled down the right field line. The next batter, junior leftfielder
Hana Gilbert (Valley Center, CA/Valley Center) singled to right field to advance Prihoda to third base. A throwing error by the Stag's catcher Kate Robinson, to try to throw down Gilbert who was attempting to steal second base, scored Prihoda and gave Wagner a 1-0 lead.
Fairfield responded in the top of the second inning, putting up five runs against the Wagner defense.
Freshman shortstop
Erica Krumbine (Freehold, NJ/Saint John Vianney) ripped a single to center field in the bottom of the second inning and advanced to second base off of a SAC bunt by freshman right fielder
Lauren Serrato (Litchfield Park, AZ/Verrado). Tredway had the RBI single to center field to score Krumbine to cut the deficit to 5-2.
Both teams stayed solid throughout the remainder of the contest, as neither defense let up a run, resulting in the Stag's 5-2 victory in the final contest of the Hatter Classic.
Tredway and Carlucci each had doubles while Gilbert and sophomore first baseman
Maddie Marable (Reno, NV/ Earl Wooster) were credited with one stolen base each.
Six Seahawks contributed to Wagner's eight total hits. Krumbine was 2-for-3 while Tredway was 2-for-4.
Prihoda, Gilbert, Carlucci and Marable registered the rest of the hits with one a piece.
