Brooklyn Heights, NY – The Wagner women's basketball team will be going for a season sweep over St. Francis Brooklyn when the Seahawks and Terriers meet at the Pop Physical Education Center tonight at 7:00 p.m.

Six days ago, on January 24, junior guard Jasmine Nwajei (Rockaway Park, NY/Murry Bergtraum), the nation's No. 2 scorer at 26.5 ppg., tossed in 31 points to lead four players in double figures as the Seahawks earned a 70-53 win over the Terriers.

The Series
Tonight's game marks the the 76th all-time meeting between the schools and the Seahawks hold a 56-19 lead in the all-time series.

Nwajei Named NEC Player of Week After Averaging 42.0 Points Last Week
Jasmine Nwajei averaged 42.0 points, 7.0 rebounds, 5.0 assists and 3.5 steals in Wagner's two games last week in earning her third Northeast Conference (NEC) Player of the Week honor this season, and seventh of her career. The nation's second-leading scorer at 26.5 ppg while tallying a staggering 32.6 points per contest in NEC games, Nwajei scored at a remarkable rate over the Seahawks two-game stretch. Even by her lofty standards, the Rockaway Park native recorded an unprecedented 84 points in 80 minutes of action. On January 14, the 5-8 guard poured in a school and NEC-record 53 points on 18-of-34 shooting vs. Sacred Heart in a tough 77-73 loss and followed that with a 31-point outburst on January 26 in leading the Seahawks to a 70-53 win over St. Francis Brooklyn in a game seen live on ESPN3. Against SHU, Nwajei was 5-of-14 from three-point range while adding six rebounds, five steals and three assists. Against St. Francis Brooklyn, she hit 6-of-8 from the field and scored 15 points in the fourth quarter as Wagner outscored the Terriers 21-10 in the final frame to pull away for the win. In addition to her game-high 31 points, the New York City guard dished out seven assists while committing only one turnover. For the season, Nwajei only trails only Washington's Kelsey Plum, who is at 27.20 ppg.

2,000-Point Mark in Sight
The lightning-quick Nwajei's prowess gives her a chance to become the first player in league history to hit the 2,000 career point mark as a junior.  With a minimum of nine games remaining this season, Nwajei is up to 1,764 career points, No. 2 all-time in Seahawk history, behind Stephanie Samuels (1982-86) who scored 1,835 points. Nwajei is also now within 58 points of reaching the NEC all-time Top 10 scoring list as Sacred Heart's Callan Taylor (2009-12) is currently 10th with 1,822 points. Nwajei, who owns a school-record 22.6 ppg. average, has reached the 30-point plateau 18 times in her career, including eight times this season. She has topped the 40-point mark three times this season (four in her career), headed by her record 53-point explosion vs. Sacred Heart (1/24), which is the top individual scoring game in the nation this season.
