Staten Island, NY – The Wagner College swimming and diving team earned its fifth victory of the season on Saturday, swimming past fellow Northeast Conference (NEC) rival, Saint Francis U, 149-113 at Spiro Sports Center on Saturday.
The Seahawks earned seven overall victories and was led by senior
Katja Claesson (Fullerton, CA / Troy High School), who picked up three wins on the day.
Claesson was a part of the Seahawks' 200 Medley Relay team, along with senior
Anu Nihipali (Honolulu, HI / Hawaii Preparatory Academy), sophomore
Andrea Gustafsson (Malmo, Sweden / ProCivitas Privata Gymnasium), and freshman
Kelsey Eastman (Effort, PA / Pleasant Valley) that finished a second shy of the pool record, clocking in with a time of 1:46.59. Claesson also picked up two individual victories in the 100 and 200 Breast, touching the wall in 1:06.99 and 2:26.39, respectively.
Junior
Leahi Camacho (Kailua Kona, HI / Kealakene) also had two victories on the day for the Green and White, winning the 200 Fly (2:10.80) as well as the 200 Back (2:08.59). Tri-captain Nihipali earned an individual win over the 100 Back (56.82).
Freshman
Kelli Boston (Roseville, CA / Woodcreek) was victorious in the 200 IM (2:11.90), finishing ahead of senior tri-captain
Maddie McNichol (Downingtown, PA / Henderson) (2:13.71) and freshman
Katie Mulcahy (Helmetta, NJ / Spotswood) (2:14.54) to complete the sweep in the event.
Up next for the Seahawks is the Rutgers University Frank Elm Invitational, set to commence on November 18-20.
