Staten Island, NY –
The Wagner women's lacrosse team will be seeking its sixth consecutive win and first 5-0 Northeast Conference (NEC) start in program history on Sunday when the Seahawks host Sacred Heart in a 1:00 p.m. matchup at Hameline Field.

The Green & White enter today's play in a first-place tie in the NEC Standings with Bryant, which defeated Wagner in the 2014 NEC Championship game. The Seahawks and Bulldogs will meet on Friday, April 24 in Smithfield, RI. The NEC regular season champion will host next month's four-team 2015 NEC Tournament. In addition to being 4-0 in NEC play, Wagner is 7-7 on the season while the Pioneers are 1-3 in league play and 5-8 overall.

In her two seasons at the helm, head coach Liz Frisoli has led Wagner to a 10-1 record in NEC play.

The Seahawks continue to receive across the board production from junior midfielder Shea Gegan (Belmar, NJ/Manasquan). The nation's leader in both caused turnovers and ground balls per game. In Wagner's 19-10 win over LIU Brooklyn, Gegan, the reigning ECAC Division I Metro/Upstate and NEC Defensive Player of the Week, scored five goals, dished out two assists, while contributing five ground balls, five caused turnovers and five draw controls.

The 2014 NEC Defensive Player of the Year entered the weekend ranked No. 1 nationally in caused turnovers (3.77) and ground balls per game (4.31).

Junior attack Stephanie Peterson (Vernon, NJ/Vernon Township) poured in a career-high six goals in the win over LIU Brooklyn. In addition to being a career high, Peterson's six goals give her 14 in her last three games as the 5-7 attacker tallied four goals in each of Wagner's previous two games, vs. Robert Morris and Saint Francis U.

The Seahawks delivered their customary brand of brilliant defense in the win over the Blackbirds. Entering today's play ranked No. 1 nationally with 12.77 CTs per game, and No. 2 nationally in ground balls per game (22.23), the Green & White increased both of those averages by collected 29 ground balls and coming up with 16 caused turnovers vs. the Blackbirds.

In galloping out to their first 4-0 NEC start in program history, the Seahawks have nearly doubled the output of their league counterparts, holding a 66-35 edge in goals, which computes to an average final score of 17-9. In addition, all four of Wagner's NEC wins have come by six-goal margins or more.
